2020 US Election (Part Two)

It's quite amazing how mainstream and frequent - and believed and given full credential and legitimacy - a term coined by marginal, radical, paranoid, crackpot conspiracy theorist and REALLY wonky ideologue Lyndon LaRouche has now become, isn't it?

RussiaGate provided us with a lesson in Deep State 101

I completely agree with the notion that we do need to begin withdrawing from the Middle East. However, pulling out of places like northern Syria to leave beleaguered ethnic groups to be genocided so Russia can expand its influence is not the way to go about it.

Poison gassing the opposition under cover of Russian air strikes will do that.

As people fled Syria many settled in Turkey and the Kurds took their lands. Do you think the Kurds should be allowed to keep those lands? Turkey doesn't... They want the refugees to return to Syria and they dont want the Kurds in charge of the border because it will be used for attacks into Turkey.

Weren't gas attacks occurring under Obama without creating stability? Last I heard 'the west'ern forces arrayed against Assad got caught lying about a gas attack. The destruction of ISIS is why Syria's more stable now than it was at the end of Obama's term.

Latest activities of the Deep State according to Trump. FDA supposedly delaying testing of covid-19 vaccine.
I'm sure some people will believe it despite lack of evidence, the FDA not having the power to do what Trump is accusing it of, and the FDA being headed by one of his own appointees.

The Lamebrain Legacy of Lyndon LaRouche! Everybody whose hoodwinked and suckered into believing in the "Deep State," raise a virtual hand!

BTW, @AmazonQueen, this point is bounced off of your point, not specifically addressed to you, so we're clear.

Uk shouldn't have a seat there either, it is no longer a major power. India would have made more sense...

If you were to remove the UK as a permanent member, you would probably need to remove France as well, as in terms of being major powers they have parity (Based on measures such as GDP).

The only weak point of this is an external expansion and even than Trump does have an obsession with buying Greenland, for no reason but it would look nice on the map.
I have a feeling he thinks Greenland is populated by northern Europeans like Iceland and that has a lot to do with him wanting to buy it.

He also suggested trading it for Puerto Rico to get rid of all the poor, dirty people down there.

Not true, the UK has trident. The UK is only just behind France on military spending, has more overseas basis, and more troops deployed. It is above France in GDP PPP and GDP nominal.

I am aware of the ridiculous Trident, but that is controlled by the US.
And France does run its own projects, unlike the Uk which needs the americans to protect it.

Why are you so determined to defend France? We all know they are just cheese eating surrender monkeys! :joke:

If we are basing this just off the ability to use nuclear weapons (for some reason!), then Pakistan, Israel and North Korea would have to become a permanent members too!

I'm not against the UK being removed as a permanent member, but I don't think France's inclusion could be justified any longer either.
If you really think France's inclusion is still justified, then I think you may be a bit biased towards them, but I guess we shall just have to agree to disagree (particularly as this is getting pretty off topic)!

this is what happenz when you call someone a sissy . Because his boss has been rejecting the same for ages and yeah , he shirks his responsibility and will play ostrich . To make sense of this post you would have to be aware of things that no longer exist . Also in the news : WHO says not properly tested vaccines can cause mutation in the coronavirus . Also Resident Evil on TV ... Not a wholly wasted evening , let me tell you .

The UK is well below France in military capability. Too dependent on the US, whereas France explicitly rejected that and develops its own weapons. GDP comparisons don't matter for this.

And having many mexicans was what saved Mexico com being annexed by the US back during the last war.

I can see the 2020 USA elections are first in everyone's minds. After that convention, we probably need to wake up some viewers.

This is a:joke:. Though the bottom right are appearing, so maybe the rest will turn out to be true too!!

Putin would agree with you on this "a small island no one listens to.”

Though Trump would probably say that France, UK, and the rest of Nato are too dependent on USA's military.

I'm not sure France would manage much better without US military backing. France (along with the UK & Israel) during the Suez Crisis folded like a lawn chair when the US refused to back them!

GDP comparisons don't matter for this.
Economic power doesn't matter. I must have missed that memo!

I think ultimately like many things perception of something is more important then the reality. The UK (and France) are perceived to be powerful regardless of whether they are. "Based on a survey that asked more than 20,000 people from four regions to associate 73 countries with specific attributes," the UK was ranked 5th and France 6th.

However I don't think the inclusion of possibly no longer relevant global powers on the UN security council as permanent members is its biggest problem. It is the use of vetos. It feels like it never achieves anything, as resolutions are constantly vetoed (particularly by the US & Russia).

Uhm, the US is entering international pariah territory here:

Iran sanctions: nearly all UN security council unites against 'unpleasant' US
Letters from 13 of 15 members underscore US isolation as it seeks to ‘snap back’ measures against Tehran

The extent of US isolation at the UN has been driven home by formal letters from 13 of the 15 security council members opposing Trump administration attempts to extend the economic embargo on Iran.

This is all part of Trumps master plan when it comes to foreign policy. "America First." So far it has managed to alienate most of the USA's major allies, and needlessly antagonized Iran. Personally I think the deal Obama struck with Iran was a decent one (though I could be wrong). However Trumps reason for being against it seems to be part of his hatred of Obama, where he has tried to undo everything Obama did (and with the exception of the ACA has been largely successful).

Still at least by focusing on the US to the detriment of its allies, and by trying to stay out of foreign conflicts (the latter probably a good thing), we have been able to start to reduce the absurd amount we spend on the military. Oh wait, no we haven't, under Trump we increased military spending, because Trump thinks pumping ever more billions of dollars into it is the ultimate sign of patriotism! We're spending more on defense than China, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil - combined!

I feel bad. I went so off topic, I ruined onejawhawks fortnightly increasingly desperate assertions that Trump will win the election.

Just need some more morons to muck about and threaten to kill people's dogs and you'll wind up with more like that bottom right having legitimacy. Kick some more senior citizens to death on the street to get even with some other guys somewhere else. I mean why not? Convenient eugenics is a mainstream position, it's not this stuff is actually worse. Just evil human garbage all around this year.

I agree with AOC, it is a very bad idea to have the police endorse any candidate for potus. But it seems the police is just another business in the US, with its own niche of the market. Unfortunately it happens to be one with the power to do anything to you, up to shoot you down, so it definitely shouldn't be treated like another group of civil servants - which this news network ridiculously tries to do.

All the unions weigh in with their fat butts, public and private sector. Then, depending, people get offended at one group and not at the other. It's so old.

It's the police union, not "the police"

Only a matter of time before we discover the others are too
One of my friends showed me that meme and I did not think it was a joke - that's the kind of basket of deplorables I would expect him to have speak.

I wonder how the RNC convention will turn out? The DNC convention has been widely praised because of how effectively produced it was. The thing is that the Democrats had months to plan for it and pull it off, while the Republicans were still trying to do a split, in-person convention in two states up until recently. There's reports that Trump has been pushing the RNC hard to outdo the Democrats but I don't expect they'll be able to do that given how much he's already interfered with their planning and run out the clock.
