2nd Run NFL Mock Draft Thread

Yeah, that sounds good. If we can't resign all of the OL after this season, I think Dave could be a decent stopgap. My other needs (another shot at a DL, backup WR, and S) can be addressed later. done.

Well, with the just acquired pick the Browns select:

Greg Jennings - Wide Receiver - Western Michigan

3rd round Broncos pick: Brodie Croyle, QB, Alabama

Backup/long term replacement for Plummer. Slightly in front of Whitehurst.

Hmm, not so sure about that pick. The Broncos are much more successful going with more mobile QB's ala Jake the snake Plummer and John Elway. Brodie doesn't fit that mold.

Steelers: Parys Haralson - DE/OLB, Tennessee. Good fit in a 3-4 as a pass rusher.

Jets: Demetrius Williams, WR, Oregon. Easy to find needs for the Jets, they're everywhere. WR is one of them.

Well, I dont think Jacobs was available and Croyle is better than Whitehurst & Gradkowski.

Unless your wanting him to reach/wait for Reggie McNeal...

I'm going to take until tomorrow to get the 4th round started.

And Whitehurst is a more mobile QB who fits the Bronco system better (and is rated higher on a lot of boards).

To quote one scouting report on Whitehurst: "Not a threat to run and is basically a pocket passer"

I rate Croyle more, it's a question of whether he stays healthy or not. If he does, I think he'll be better than Whitehurst.

If the Broncos wanted to ignore all options at QB other than those that can run a lot (which would be silly), they'd take someone else at this point, either reach for McNeal, hope that McNeal is still there in the next round, or gamble on Marcus Vick in rd 5-7. McNeal can also get time at WR while he develops if neccessary. Which would be useful for the Broncos.

Alright, I got the players taken sheet updated through the end of the third, and the 4th round draft order is posted.

Raiders pick:

Rob Simms - OT - Ohio State

For their 4th round pick the Niners select Jason Spitz, C from Louisville. As a converted G he can help shore up the line and protect poor Alex. Or he can be special teams fodder, tough to say...

With the 7th pick in the 4th round the Packers select Kevin Boothe, G from Cornell. He's next highest rated OG out there and I imagine the Cheeseheads can use him....

Does everyone still want to go on with this? If so, I'll go ahead and make the next pick for the Patriots since it's owner has gone MIA.

Honestly I don't know much about any players left. :p

When does Fantasy Football start. ;)

Just declare my picks the best and be done with it ;)

Seriously, now I see mocks all over the place taking Donte Whitner with the Chargers first pick...and I got Winston Justice at 18!

I would actually still be willing to go on though.

Where'd my post go?? oh well...

What I said was, if everyone wants, we could stop here and just do a 1 or 2 round mock right before the draft since at this point most people don't know the players on the board

I'd say things have been shaken up considerably with FA and then the individual workouts. A 1-2 round sprint is fine by me.
