5 city conquest challenge

shall i go for a reroll then?
Um...I give it up. I do not get it, why I am not understood in this thread . I think I said I will start this tonight and that I see no reason for a reroll (though the map looks challenging at best, but that was before I played). You can certainly start it again - it is your game, but then please state that clear before we arrange a roster agree to start.

well thisll be tricky :S
id say take herman to the mountain, then place 2nd city either no the pink spot or 1 tile se, s or sw of the spot. cant think of a better plan.
this definately isnt very suitable for a 5cc, already well either have very spread out cities or some rubssih cities that cant grow above size 6 or so :S:S:S:S

(was typing while you posted that) but lets just go for it, and sorry i completely misunderstood you, i hadnt realised you were playing the ave at all :S

sall good then. the game is go and we dont stop till we die... hooray. im going t sleep
night

Okay. Now, I am looking at the map.

My gut feeling is finish the warrior - pop a settler. Warrior - Worker if pop allows.

Does the team agree on this? Or should I pop a warrior, pop a worker, warrior, settler?

@Grs: I don't understand why the grassland was irrigated rather then mined initially. I understand why the grassland is being mined -now-, but I don't understand the original setup...

(Edit) After looking at it more, it looks like this will get pop growth a -lot- faster then anything else. I'd recommend switching the current warrior to a settler, rather then finishing off the warrior build. I see no way of matching the AI's expansion at this level currently, and even if we -do- get a choice spot, it'll have to be gotten quickly. The lack of shields is a major pain to us atm.

We should build settler next and go SE to found on the river.

My suggestion of a dotmap.

Change the red dot to one NE, it will grab the wines after expansion and still have a fish and a BG.

Blue dot S-SE to have more grass to work with.

Pink either S or SE, depending on what the warrior finds there.

A 5th city should be for a resource if we need it.

I'm not grs, but I would have whooped him good if he didn't drag water to the wines :)

Irrigated wines on grass is 3 food, mate.

Here's a screen of what is south.

Gozpel: Ahhh! My bad, I didn't realize that.

I forgot about irrigation requiring temporary water at least ;).

Stupid me!

Ok, SE of the pink dot first. This spot will need some serious wood-chopping, I count to 7 forests :) Lots of extra shields for barracks and stuff.

Oops, I went one turn over :( My apologies, Gozpel.

Turn log (May not be accurate. I didn't bother to write anything down on a turn that didn't have anything happen.)

Turn 0: Switched Warrior to Settler

Turn 1: Worker finishes Mine, move Worker to SE of City (Road + Irrigation = 2f1s1c)

Turn 2: Worker finishes Road

Turn 6: Worker starts Irrigation

Turn 8: See Sumerian Settler + Escort, follow

Turn 10: Worker finishes Irrigation, Sumeria founds new city

Turn 11: Move Worker to Forest with intent to cut down for shields, Iron Working in 10, find out new Sumerian city is named Lagash. Settler produced. Set Berlin to Granary (No reason, next player's call on what it is), chose not to move settler (Next player, remember to move the settler on turn 0). Moved warrior, spotted Enkidu next to him.

Except for warrior movements, that's pretty much all that happened.

I am ok with moving the pink one, I just hesitate to settle a town towards the enemy with a mountain adjacent to it, but I may be over anxious of some fortified enkidu sitting there. The red is an obvious mistake by me as the bg will come into play anyways, but I am not that happy with not using one of the few good tiles we have (the wine on the hill). It will be some time till we have an expansion in any city but the capital.

Edit: Judging from the posting speed...this seem to become a klariusesk game ;)

Edit2:

Just a small remark, since gozpel wanted me to take responsibility and write a bit more. I think you contradict yourself here. Chopping the forest makes only sense if you keep building the granary and building the granary is only good if you chop. So I would say your move is , but your reasoning could improve :)

After looking at it closely, SE of the pink dot seems best for the settler....

I'm looking at the map, and it honestly looks like our best bet with rank, production, etc.

There's another good spot, but it's waaay too far away - corruption will kill it.

(Edit) My apologies. I'm trying to edit posts so I don't double-post like that. Sorry guys ;)

(Edit2)

Yeah. I went for the granary automatically once I realized that we -need- it pretty badly at this point, and moved the worker.

Then I thought about it more. "Hey, waitaminute..maybe the group would hate that move...", and figured that I'd leave it up to the next player's call. The next player is gozpel, so he'll be able to pull something off for sure ;).

(Edit3)
On a fortunate or unfortunate sidenote, depending on how you look at it, I'm upgrading my PC in the next week or so. I'll be down for about a day, but I'll be sure to play out my turn beforehand and give plenty of warning.

I will use the chop for a settler instead, we want some cities quickly.

And I still like the dot SE of Pink, we can put a warrior on that mountain later :) Or a dozen swords  And the rearranged red dot will become a powerhouse one day. Sorry, if you don't agree to the last dot, grs, it won't happen during my turns anyways.

I want 4 cities before we build any granaries, it has been proven a huge mistake in other games, to ignore expansion.

And just if you forgot, give in to demands and stuff if it happens. We won't have any military soon and with Sumeria as closest neighbour, I don't fancy having a swarm of Enkidu's running amock.

gozpels 3 white dots seem sensible, get them down and build some seriuos workers. if we get iron/horses it may be an idea to start a war with sumeria on a mere worker steal/containment basis?

I agree that white dots seem nice

As for the earlier comments: As an afterthought the comment that i had peeked at the game was rather pointless as I made sure that i didnt let it affect my other comments at all, actually if i had used the infromation the peek provided i would have said the opposite regarding the reroll. I just wanted to have some more information than mere start screenshot, so that i could spend a thought or two to the game as, I assumed that it'll progress 1-2 turns during the time i sleep and so it did too.

As i spend more time looking at the dot map the more i start to like of the white spots, they are rather overlapless and they grab nice terrain and all the bonuses/luxuries in sight aswell. The white dots give a little disadvantage at start put later on im sure that they will become quite good towns.

I will be away the period of 24th-30th of this month, so i will need to be skipped during that time period :(
