Well it has both good and bad points, as an idea. The bad is that i am sure many threads will suffer a decrease in quality when moved to the tavern forum which is as to be expected full of drunks
The good is that finally we can have some serious art threads in the serious ot forum, such as the (doomed here due to trolls) favorite painting thread. Remember how the art forum started as a serious artistic discussion forum? It ended up being mostly lighthearted (and that is mostly a euphemism).
I speak here for the continued existence of the Arts & Entertainment forum AND for the continued presence of the Draw Your Own Story activities IN the Arts & Entertainment forum. This is the most suitable place for creative projects like DYOS and any other projects people might want to start.
Plotinus, do you recall the last request I made of you when I stepped down as a moderator? I requested that you allow DYOS to stay here, and you agreed. By all means, let the spam be filtered out of this forum. There's a lot of it. But that's not to say that there's nothing of value here, or that nothing of value would take the place of the spam.
This is still a young forum. Please give it a chance.
Aaah, that's never stopped you guys. :3Certainly if there are people who want to keep A&E as it is, I see no overriding reason not to.
Long story, and a frustrating one.Ah, I supposed the wrong problem. Sorry.
But now I'm confused. If A&E's moderation standards are low enough to leave your serious art discussion to spoil in spam, why wouldn't you want to try it in OT:SRS?
Some people really do make the same kinds of OPs.because of who the OP was
In some cases, the OP was perfectly good, and the intention was clear. However, some people committed the rules violations because of who the OP was - in short, targeted trolling/bullying. Should an OP be punished by having the thread shut down because other people are determined to misbehave?
Please remember: I was a moderator then, and this was my primary forum. I still remember this all quite clearly. Yes, in hindsight there are things that should have been done that were not done. But what could one moderator do when some people were utterly determined to be as disruptive as possible and could not be banned because they didn't meet the official criteria for banning?
I don't believe in punishing the victim(s) of bullies.
