A New Dawn Bug Reports and Feedback

Ah, something that I meant to post for a while, but always forgot:

i have realistic diplomacy turned on, and sometimes an AI offers me to pay a substantial sum of money (up to 1500 gold so far) for one single worker. Given that it takes me just one or two turns in one high-yield city to replace the worker, this almost feels like an exploit. I can try to prepare a savegame next time it happens, if desired.

Also, I noticed that the AI doesn't seem to include workers in its offers when I ask it "What will you offer me for (my cool stuff)". It does include ships if available, but no workers so far. Sometimes, when they do have workers available and not redded out, I can add workers manually afterwards and they still take the deal. That's unusual, I think normally asking "What will you offer me for ..." leads to the highest bid that the AI is willing to make in exchange.

Oh yep - I see the bug. Will fix it.

I've improved the counter-offer's AI makes for 1.75 already. ;)

Have you figured out what is going on yet about the saved games NOT working correctly?

I have now had 4 great games going and poof CTD on loading the saved games, i even tried the autosaved games and still CTD. But they were all working up to Renaissance era.

i'm having the same issue w/ Patch H. Patch G was working fine loading the saved games. now i can't load anything.

I'm playing with religious decay, or whatever it's called. It looks like the holy city for Hellenism has decayed away, but I can still build the shrine (thankfully). In the religion advisor screen it shows Tokyo to be the holy city, but on the same menu it doesn't count Tokyo as having Hellenism in the count of total cities with the religion. After building the shrine, the religion automatically reappears in the city. Not sure if this is intentional or not, I'm point it out just in case.

I'm going to assume it's just a minor graphical hiccup - Holy Cities are explicitly exempted from religion decay.

@Gudal, i think early on that the forest is burned down to place a mine on it, not chopped down like with later techs. A lot of improvements remove previous tile improvements, right?

I know, but I wanted to have it like it was in 1.70, that mine, cottage, workshop and watermill do NOT clear forests. Makes more sense, in my opinion. Tried fidling about in the BuildInfos, but that did not work.

EDIT: Ok. Checked a little more. Fixing the stuff in BuildInfos made it work in vanilla BTS, still no luck with the xml's in the RoM folder though. Seems to be some code that applies clear forests nontheless. Afforess, any ideas?

I couldn't find the answer to this in the encyclopedia, but I think I've heard people talking about it. Is it possible to destroy specific buildings in your own cities, and if so then how?

Ctrl + A in city view, isn't it?

Feedback: I had several Holy Cities early on and religious decay, at some point i lost one of those religions (Zoro) and could not build its structures furthermore, but i looked this up in the Civopedia and it said that this was normal and that a new Holy City would appear in one of the other Civs who faithfully followed that religion, i had switch State Religions a few times, i guess that broke my hold on one of them.

Feedback: Regarding trade ratio, i was lucky to get 2 for 1 resources last game. ;)

@AndarielHalo, by the "newest versions of AND" do you mean betas? If so, i'm glad that this has been looked at, i know gold=coin=commerce, but nothing moved after choosing that over ship promotions. I've seen the promotions work in quests though. It specifically said there would be bonus to port building outputs.

@Afforess, "Were you running a civic that blocks adopting a religion - like Secular, Atheist, or Folklore?" I'd have to remember as those saves won't load since i exited the game, but i do not recall changing from the default civic, it started early in game and persisted throughout the entire game that way in a quasi-hindu way, i could build the Hindu structures, but not obtain the state religion. A civic blocking that would fit the scenario though, thanks!

Regarding Mountains, did you know i'm seeing 4 hammers on like half of them? I had no idea they cost more than 2 food to work though, thanks!

Regarding Stack Attack, yes, i do have that on (in ESC options, but not in BUG/AND options i think), but still all MPs were gone after the Bombard, so this retaliation Ping-Pong effect is known, i'll turn stack off, i used it in BTS to hurry through the drudge of multi-unit combat, but in RoM/AND i like the one-on-one play.

Regarding Mapscripts, i have the latest build non-beta default RoM/AND install running. Single player Custom 4 initial AIs gigantic maps, Tectonic, and eternity speed. I do not know what mapscript(s) it uses for that. =)

Regarding BUG in-game changes, changing UI display colors for some options seems to not be a good idea for example, you've seen my previous posts already.

@Psyringe, i know where you're coming from, you think i borked my system and that explains all the stuff i'm writing, but you'll just have to realize that i just like giving more feedback than most people care to. As i have several systems, an extra video card is a useful thing to be sure, this kind of game just gives me a reason to buy one. I've had my userva=3072, i realize it may need to come down, but i'm gathering evidence on just how much to get good game/OS balance. ;)

Also, here's some more information about religion decay in holy city. In the first shot, you can see the decay message. It's the same game, so Tokyo is the holy city. Also, it means that the religion has decayed away at least once more since the time I built the shrine. The other screenshot shows the religion advisor at the time that the holy city doesn't appear to have the religion. Note that it only counts that I have three cities with the religion, however, the icon appears here, but not on the world map or the city view. Also, when the holy city appears to not have the religion, missionaries can spread the religion there, and auto-spread missionaries will be used up.

Edit: On further evaluation, it looks like the shrine bonus is not counting an apparently decayed holy city. So, now it looks like holy cities are decaying just like any normal city. I am running "holy city relocation", so I'm not sure if that matters. In any case, I'm about 90% sure that the holy city has never relocated itself. Also, the shrine that I have built keeps functioning even if the religion decays away.

Heh, I reviewed the code after I posted - there is a rare circumstance where holy cities could decay. I've corrected it for future versions. ;)

DLed and installed latest version, but got an xml error for the No Inquisitions game option and a CTD trying to load the modmod... :(

Rise of Mankind 2.92,
then A New Dawn 1.74,
then finally Patch H

Silly question...

How do i kill a civ?
I seem to have three that are in the system, yet are not on the map.
They are in the diplomacy section, yet not in the foreign advisor section, and i cannot find them anywhere on the map!

Any ideas?

RoM 2.92
AnD 1.74 (H)

I have a problem. WHen i start BTS and then start ROM i get different screen resolutions all the time...like going back to default without me wanting it. This started to happen after installed A New Dawn. Any suggestions how to correct this problem ?

Its just not only the screen resolution that changes, my setting for quick moves and other just goes back to default.

Please help

I noticed that too, but didn't investigate any further - I'm just using a shortcut that starts RoM:AND directly, so that I don't have to fire up BtS before.

That is the only solution unfortunately. Afforess said that it is in exe so he can't mod the way game start up when the Options are modified from default. So yeah the shortcut is the wave of future for A New Dawn. Plus, don't play with mods that don't have these extra options in Options. If you do, then you will have to tolerate what he talked about above.

CTD after hitting next turn at 66BC. I'm really liking this game, though there's no challenge ATM and somehow Revolutions was disabled. :( Also still getting an error on the BUILDINGCLASS_SAN_MARCO Info class error on loading.

2.92, AND 1.74 + Patch H. Completely unchanged otherwise.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly, because (to me) "diplomacy section" and "foreign advisor" are the same thing.

I can think of two possibilities how seemingly dead rivals could appear to still be in the game. One is the option to show dead civilizations on the scoreboard (their score will then be displayed although the civs themselves are gone). The second is the option "Require complete kills", in this case rivals will stay in game even if they have no cities anymore, until you killed their last unit. Not sure whether one of these applies to your situation though.
