ok now i did this
from a clear cystal BTS3.19 i installed MegacivROM 2.80 then patched to 2.81
didint work it shows "error 2"
then just beign ther i installed AND 1.60beta2
and shows "error 1 " BEFORE initiate ROM then pressing single player button shows again "error 2"

ill try now same process with ROM 2.81 Full not mega
ill edit just before that
there has been more than 10 minutes by now and the AND 1.60beta2 unninstaller dosent work
it froze in the " restoring backups" screen
moving on

The uninstaller didn't work for me either. I just deleted the whole RoM folder and reinstalled from the 2.81 RAR file.

Yes, the uninstaller is broken at the moment. I recommend you use a clean copy of RoM

Quick question Castian, does RoM work okay without AND?

First of all, I'd like to say thanks once again Afforess for your amazing work. If only most game companies had the dedication you did, the world would be a better place. I just have a couple of comments/questions for you (or anyone else who might be qualified to answer).
1. Tech diffusion: I realize this is a part of the original ROM if I'm not mistaken, have you any plans to revisit or revise this? If I understand it correctly it only helps the civs which are behind in the tech race regardless of distance, which I don't necessarily care for.I'd prefer to see the EU3 model brought to the game, where tech diffusion is based on whether your neighbors have the tech and the distance to them. This rate could be modified based on different factors such as espionage rate, rights of passage, and open border agreements. Of course, certain techs such as military could be a little slower to diffuse. I don't have an iota of programming so I really do not know how difficult this would be to code, but it's something I've always wanted to see in Civ.
2. While it has been getting better with the previous build, I do get quite a number of random CTD's still. I just installed the latest beta over 2.81 full, which did increase them. They mainly seem to be tied to the type of map that I chose to play on. Since I've installed the latest beta I also get runtime errors when I try to play on certain maps no matter the settings. I've searched but I cannot seem to find the log file, while this is very noobish could someone point me to where it might be? I have the main game installed on a separate partition from the C: drive. Thanks so much.
Other than that, keep up the great work, and I look forward to your next release.

That wouldn't be that hard to add. I haven't looked in detail with Tech Diffusion, but it should be do-able.

Could you give the names of the Mapscripts that crash everytime? I've spent the last few days trying to reduce the number of crashes for the next release, so any more details would be useful.

Just wanted to note that the Vista issues I noted a few pages back seem to have been resolved by a new install of Rom, re-patch of Rom, then 1.53->1.55 reinstall... Possible I had missed some changes I had originally made to RoM originally.

I did get the black terrain bug - but removing 20 Civs from mega did the trick (though, odd that the suspicion on that seems to be a memory issue... I'm running an i7/920 quad, 6 gigs RAM, GTS240 with 1 gig onboard/3 gigs available). While I'm no expert, I monitored my footprint and wasn't seeing anything out of the ordinary - no spikes, leaks, or anything that looked out of range. Of course, despite MS's PR efforts - they'll never convince me Vista isn't WindowsME all over again - they just replaced the blue screens with system hangs.

I am getting an occasional hangup on map creation - not a crash - but new games hanging on inititialization... only seems to happen on certain Map types (the PerfectMaps -- which I don't really play with anyway). I know these take a while to create - but it sticks for a good 20 minutes at init, so I think it's a legitimate hang not impatience. If I can get a log or a CTD, I'll pass it along, but nothing too substantial.

Having loads of fun with the mod - with all the additional buildings, Rom+AND is really a builder's paradise. As someone who only plays as Industrious leaders and generally plays as a "nice guy" - eschewing military conquests unless attacked and focusing on infrastructure - this is the perfect iteration of Civ for me. Thanks much for sharing it with everyone.

+1 on improving the tech diffusion model.

Also, while you're considering PLE style buttons for building filters (I'm sort of following the discussion in the BUG thread), I'd like to request filters for buildings that grant xp (the crossed swords icon indicating folks on the scoreboard you're at war with could be used for the button art), buildings that help generate great people (either through GPP directly or % bonuses or through giving a free specialist), and, though I expect this to be the most painful, "cheap" buildings. "Cheap" I'd leave to your definition, I just find sometimes that I have a pretty wide range of build times (so by cheap I mean build cost/city production rate not counting overflow) on buildings that do fairly similar things (mainly culture or happy buildings) where I'd much rather build the quicker ones sooner.

Re: the uncompress error when loading savegames.

Trying full uninstall of civ4 and bts, disk defrag and reinstall. Going to take warlords off completely since I never use it. If it doesn't work, I at least defragged and cleared some disk space. I'm also waiting for 1.60 to be released in case some change fixes whatever is causing the problem.

sadly thats right, ROM (not mega but full) works perfectly fine,
ROM 2.81 full Clean Works :mischief:
ROM 2.81 With Rome 3.05 Works :goodjob:
ROM 2.81 With custom leader heads, civilizations even with old Afforess modmods works!!
ROM 2.81 with AND 1.53 doesn't:cry:
ROM 2.81 with AND 1.55 doesn't:cry:
ROM 2.81 with AND 1.60beta2 doesn't:cry:

There is a conflict between these, there is one in RoMModularWonders and Aaranda/Custom_Buildings.

Moved to beta thread.

I'm playing with RoM 2.81 (no megapack), AND 1.55

And the game hangs on "Waiting for other players" indefinitely (I waited 15 minutes). I can't upload the savefile-I'm getting a meesage that the file size 2.9mb exceeds the forum's limit of 2mb (Giant map-no MAF error messages after flipping Vista's 3gb switch). So I guess I'm just asking if this is a known issue of some sort.

It's a nasty show-stopping bug. I've never found a solution other than hitting the big red reset button.

Yeah, I guess I'll start over, then. It's a bummer after 1100 turns on snail, the game was just getting interesting.

try a large map instead of giant. With a save the size of 2.9mb, you were close to MAFing anyway.

Does that mean the save will be completely unable to be loaded or just that it would likely crash, even with a fresh load of the game?

Yeah, unless you have a 4gb RAM+.

Here's a chart I just whipped up:
========================
Code:
Total RAM Max Save Size
< 2GB 1MB
2GB 2MB
3GB 3MB
4GB 4MB
6GB 6MB

See a pattern? It's not exactly accurate, but close enough. Cyrusfan wouldn't have made it another 100-200 turns before a MAF anyway.

Okay, Afforess. I got those MAFs at 2mb before using the vista 3gb switch, so I was playing on Giant just to push the limits. Is this hangup a memory thing like the MAFs? Also, is anyone having any luck with the two largest map sizes?

The thing with the MAF is if you have autosave set for every turn and quicksave at the end of every turn, you can still make progress in a game despite the increasingly frequent MAFs. But I'll go back to large for now, I don't remember my save files in my last large game getting anywhere near 3mb.

Yeah it's a memory thing. You could probably get away with a Huge map too.

Well, I have 4 Gb of RAM but I'm running XP. Is there some sort of 3 GB switch for XP too?

My Earth 28 (Huge) game is already creating almost 2 Mb save files and I don't want to have to abandon play due to mere technical limitations.

Yes, there is, but I couldn't tell you off hand. Google XP 3GB Ram Boot switch, or ask some players here.
