A New Dawn Bug Reports and Feedback

Alright. It's just weird that they would leave 3/7 cities undefended while I'm at war on the mainland.

The AI should never leave a city undefended.

Domestic Advisor bug & a bug todo with settings being reset:
My problem with domestic advisor (f1 city list), whereby not being able to select what to build directly from the list seems to have persisted. Also the problem with customizing the domestic advisor and it not carrying over when you load the game seems to have returned. Oh and I still have the problem of my espionage points being allocated mysteriously when loading. Also this time when I loaded my tech rates were all adjusted also - they were set to 90% sci, 5% culture, 5% espionage - something I couldn't possibly sustain on deity.

Civics:
By the way this is my first time playing with changed civics, I changed to republic without really looking and wow was I in for a shock lol. I kinda like the change don't get me wrong, but man o man I actually think its impossible to use this civic on higher difficulties. Maybe if you concentrate heavily on reducing maintenance and plan your game nearly entirely around :commerce: you'd have a chance :) That's just how it feels atm anyway. I definitely build tall rather than wide this game, but one day changing to republic seems like a pipe dream! Guess ill hold out for democracy haha. Overall I think I like the change, it makes the civic more interesting that's for sure, and a real 'decision'!

Look in your CustomDomAdv file in your mod UserSettings directory. That's where your customised F1 display settings are.

Continuation game upgraded to 817. Gold from sale of resources does not appear to be subtracted from seller or added to buyers account. Further when I cancel a deal (that works) and then resell the resource back, it says the transaction is completed but neither the cash nor the resource transfers.

You are going to have to explain how to replicate this because I can select cities via the domestic advisor, and their build lists appear, and items from the build list will be built/queued correctly.

I have never seen a previous report of this, and I can't replicate it either.

Confirmed this issue, very strange. I will debug.

Should be fixed in Rev 819. Thank you for the report & save buck_beach! :)

To start a new game under latest update or drudge on and uncover new items found only in later games, bugs, etc. My current game, updated through 817, has quite frankly become a boring experience feeling that is just a big sandbox and not a game.

I become discouraged when I come across new buildings, National and Great Wonders that for me just muddy up the waters. I won't go in to details because to some any, and all are cool additions.

I can appreciate all the ongoing work to improve the game mechanics and balance it as oppose to the new items. This maybe where I need to start a new game (oh the hours and days needed). A major issue I would hope to have been corrected is that there be more effort (and success) that AI nations build Great Wonders. In my current game I have almost 100% of them.

SVN 817, been like this for last 2 updates since you 'fixed city view'

I'm having the same problem, but I can see some cities, in F1 view, but I can't see the majority, say 70%.

I've tried to figure out if its a missing building, X,Y co-ordinates, garrison, culture, defence none seem to have a corrolation.

I can and can't see both new, developed cities.

If you go through the list on F1 indivudually, by just moving down 1 city at a time, you'll see what I mean.

Save attached.

2 Screenies

View city
Spoiler :

No view city
Spoiler :

I killed the last city of Indian, it still alive and can do diplomat. I see one Indian explorer in the map.

Please see the attached save, the require complete kill is off.

Loving the mod so far, but does anyone else think hybrid forests are a little ridiculous late game? They seem like the strongest improvement by far in the game.

Given three grassland tiles, 3 hybrid forests yield 21:food:,15:hammers:,15:commerce:.

By comparison, a farm (8:food:,0:hammers:,2:commerce:), a geothermal factory (2:food:,9:hammers:,3:commerce:), and a town (3:food:,2:hammers:,7:commerce:) only yield 13:food:,11:hammers:,12:commerce:. Not to mention 3 hybrid forests produce 3:health:, while the later combo produces 1:yuck:.

Farms only beat hybrid forests in terms of producing :gp:, and even then it's not by much. Accounting for specialists, hybrid forests are better at everything else (except milking the score with population points).

Towns are strictly dominated by hybrid forests. A hybrid forest can support a merchant (actually 3 hybrid forests can support 4 merchants), at which point it's effectively prouducing 4:food:,5:hammers:,8:commerce: on the tile.

Geothermal factories are the closest competition to hybrid forests as they can actually produce more hammers (something useful) then hybrid forests. Even so it's pretty close. Hybrid forests can generate more :science:, :gold:, :espionage:,:gp:.

The only real downside of hybrid forests is that you'll have to take the time plant forests and for them to upgrade. The former typically isn't hard given the mass of idle workers you'll have at this point in the game, which leaves their only real weak spot the time it takes to for them to upgrade from a forest preserve to hybrid forest. I'm ignoring the upgrade time from tree farm to hybrid forest, as tree farms are already very solid improvements on their own.

It's in the transhuman era, so naturally it'll be overpowered. It's mainly balanced by the fact it takes so much effort to reach it, it doesn't really matter by then.

I think hybrid forest could be simply axed. Seems to be both overpowered and unrealistic.

The majority of the Transhuman Era is 'unrealistic' already, so I don't have any problem with that bit
That's actually part of its charm IMO, is the Science Fiction aspect of it (One thing I liked about C2C aside from the Prehistoric Era gameplay, though the majority of its more 'awesome sounding' technologies were utterly worthless and just there to take up space  )

Overpowered on the other hand... Yeah, a lot of stuff in that era is, but I feel it's partially to counter the fact most games never reach that point. I do think it could be watered down just slightly, and have it so they're best worth running with Green and/or Paradise and less useful in any other civic. Something that would be worth using for a Builder/Farmer nation and one that wouldn't be too benefitial for one currently engaged in a massive series of wars.

I don't want to see it entirely removed though

Domestic Adviser-City Overview. Building menu no longer shows when a city line is highlighted. Previously this showed the same info that a click on the city bar reflected (not entering the city screen). This was a great management tool that could be used to do various tasks (change building queue, hurry productions, and otherwise manage city) to a number of cities w/o being kicked out to the main game screen.

Hmm. The city build list for the domestic adviser was fixed in Rev817. Since then there have been no changes to the relevant code. I will try to replicate tonight, but initially this appears puzzling.

In addition, before Rev 817, the domestic adviser click-to-city was broken since the introduction of viewports. I am not sure how anyone was using it before, since its been broken so long.

Yes I used is in its previous form and found the alternative method of use after it was broken.

I need help. Every time I try to load the game itself, it works fine. Then, once the map loads, there are no buttons to push. There is no interface, just the map and the warriors. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't know where else to put this.

Are you patched to the latest version of BTS? You can't use the in-game patcher, you need to go to the download section here (CFC.com) and download it, and install it.
