Altered Maps ΙΓ: To make a map larger than what it maps.

Some of these are a bit surprising at first glance.

Oh, I see that people have seen my post where I linked the website with this map: ;)

sooooo many koreans in nova

I suppose that 99% of inhabitants speak English or Spanish.

In such case "soooo many" is not a good conclusion. :p

Amongst Putin's statements sauna perverts seems like a generous tribute.

He could have you called "Grand Duchy of Finland" but even the author (who, ironically, is a Bulgarian), thought this would go too far.

Also, as a proud EU Slave, I'll just say one thing:

...can't we go back to pre-1989 relations? Pretty please? Gibe oils plz?

Why are Romanians asking "Got Gas?", does it have something to do with unwanted ethnic minorities in Romania ???

Why are Southern Germans "Homo", Northern Poles "Sexuals" and Southern Poles "Drama Queens" ???

===============================

It seems that Basque people and Catalans are "Off" while Central French are "Incestual".

A few observations:

First, Russia has won over Oregon. Do you think we should sell it or we should wait for liberation?

And a dark threat has descended over Michigan. A threat to the home of the brave...

I would guess why those languages are commonly spoken in those areas is probably because of lots of immigrants or people who descended from immigrants from those countries. Or at least I guess, I have no statistics to back this up (unless someone can find me some, that'd be great.)

I have a question to the Europeans on the site, is Putin considered a far right politician?

He's considered a populist, and is quite conservative, so I guess you could call him that.

The last graph is very interesting. Am I right to deduce that it is the populist right that has support in Southern Italy and the more classic liberal, small-c conservative-types that vote right-of-center in northern Italy?

If so, that is a funny alliance/coalition of sorts.

The (center-left) Democratic Party actually got most votes in most of the North. Berlusconi's party was allied with Lega Nord, though, so that's what accounted for the high center-right vote. And Lega Nord is very much a populist party.

He's appealing a lot to "traditional", very conservative (and religious) values recently - and Russian nationalism, of course. If that was his ideology and he was a politician somewhere in the EU, he'd be considered ultraconservative/far-right.

Of course Putin also has a lot more power than any head of state/government in the EU, which also makes him authoritarian.

That Russian band looks mighty on the thin side to me.

But it's interesting how far north the UK is. If it wasn't for the Gulf Stream (which may cut off any century, now), we'd be freezing our socks off.
