Altered Maps ΙΓ: To make a map larger than what it maps.

Supposedly this is a (highly scientific, of course) ranking of the cities with most 'selfie' pics taken :\

Thessalonike is in 73 :/

What's up with the Philippines?

My guess would be that the determining factor for selfies is total number of poorly educated people*access to internet. Philippines scores pretty high on that one.

Well there's probably mediating factors, but I still think it's part of the equation.

From the map it looks like Germany has the largest concentration, along with Poland ;)

Btw, Copenhagen is pretty high up in this fad, being at #23...

Surprised by South Korea though. Only 2 cities? They were plastic surgery #1 a couple of years ago.

I wonder how many of these selfies in, say, Western Europe, are actually just tourists making dumb photos (like the legendary "holding the Tower of Pisa" photos)?

There's only three cities in the Netherlands and Poland is mostly blue-ish purple. Actually looking at Europe Mid England (the coal areas) seem to have the biggest concentration, which makes sense according to my suggestion.

^No, cause that is just Manchester covering up most of mid England. The actual map in the page only has 4 cities in Britain (iirc). London, Manchester, Glasgow and some other (not Birmingham iirc, maybe some coastal brutalist area ;) ).

edit: zooming in on the map, indeed there is a nasty ring of selfie crazed cities in middle England...

Behold, the United Steaks of America

If Hawaii gets sushi, why doesn't Maryland get crabs? And WTH is that poring into the Northern Panhandle of WV from Pittsburgh?

Not sure how accurate this is, from a strategy game:

Purple is (i suppose) the Greek/Indian empire (?).

I just got through reading about that. I can't see any major inaccuracies; the purple is the Mauryan empire.

Which game is it?

Temperature difference between... ?

I would think highest and lowest.

i.e. Death Valley and Alaska.
