LastOne: Are you just brute-forcing that, or is there a trick? I've wanted to do a new US states' borders map, but never had the time.

You mean the map of Africa that i'm making?

I'm taking the names of tribes on that map i found, and grouping them up by finding thier tribes on wikipedia, taking a look at their linguistic and cultural similarities. I then replicate the tribes borders on Wikipedia by hand.

Once again, Rhodes' dream achieved. With some bonuses.

IIRC this is from a project you are working on?

Chile is socially and economically tied WAY closer to Argentina and Uruguay.

Just listen to their accents. They ought not be paired with those other countries.

I can only assume that there was some kind of a Revived Incan Empire project going on.

I just thought Chile looked prettier as part of Peru and Bolivia...

For the most part, I avoid rational unifications... if Germany, Britain and the USA can merge, then I think just about anything's possible...

The Altered Three Kingdoms of China
Spoiler :

ThreeLands.png

Wu (Fifth Chinese Republic) - located in Hangzhou, the leadership of the Fifth Republic is a loose coalition of liberals, democrats, Christians, businessmen, and the urban Middle Class, banded together to reunite the nation in the name of democracy. In reality, the Central Government faced the same problems as the First and Second Republics in the wake of the Xinhai Revolution - corrupt politicians and powerful local leaders setting themselves up as warlords. Nevertheless, the Hangzhou Regime has the support of many of the Powers and of Taiwan.

Wei (State of China) - Northern China is ruled by a clique of former PLA generals, who imposed militarist rule on the population. Setting themselves up in Beijing, the Wei Generals pointed to the relative stability of their territories as opposed to the perceived lawlessness in the south and west as the evidence of their right to rule. The Wei Clique uses old PRC symbolism to strengthen their legitimacy.

Shu (Qian Dynasty) - a fierce nationalist, the founder of the self-proclaimed Da Qian viewed the Wu as corrupt puppets of foreigners and the Wei as brutal warlords. The Qian advocated a return to the Imperial era and the return of "traditional values". Militarily and economically weakest of the three factions, Qian tactics revolved around guerrila warfare.

Outside of Wei, Shu or Wu control:

Tibet (Xizang) - the Chinese governor of the province declared himself "King of Tibet" as China and the world descended into self-destructive madness. Unpopular with his Chinese subjects and even less popular among the Tibetans.

Xinjiang - After central rule collapsed, there was an attempt to set up an Islamic state in Xinjiang. This went horribly wrong and the region has since been embroiled in constant tribal, religious and ideological warfare. The Governor in Urumqi is content to work with whichever side is winning, and reap the profit.

Qinghai - the province is ruled by several warlords, who reached a compromise regarding territory and the province is now relatively peaceful. Several warlords are Tibetan and are plotting the liberation of Tibet from its self-styled Chinese King.

Taiwan - De facto independent since 1949, the independence of Taiwan was finally proclaimed following the March 16 Incident, by which time Beijing or anyone else was powerless to intervene. Taiwan keeps a close watch on events on the other side of the strait, sending arms and volunteers to help the fledgling Hangzhou government.

Wow, I had practically the same idea a while ago - even the map looked pretty much the same!

The Menagerie of Europe. Every movement (excl two or three) is on the map. A bit confusing, but whatever.

Some are too small, while others are exaggerated. :) Too tired to go into detail right now though. :)

Well, I can speak for the Czech Rep.: Czech Silesia should be merged with Polish Silesia.

Also, southern Slovakia is full of Hungarians who until recently wanted to be a part of Hungary. Now when Hungary is going down, they suddenly learned to appreciate their Slovak citizenship

As I understand it the map is meant to show how the West Bank is being carved up by Israel by the Security Wall, settlements and exclusive roads, leaving Palestinian controlled zones cut off and isolated from one another, hence the islands analogy.

Heh, not to mention the israeli settlements sunk underwater. Wasn't there a public figure in france who spoke antizionist words a few years back? There was a backlash against him.

Not original but still nice
