Is this ignoring the fact that if the Earth stopped inertia would throw everything not firmly attatched to solid ground at however many hundreds of miles per hour the Earth is currently spinning. This includes the world's oceans. Every western coast would get unbelievably big tsunamis and the East Coast would into what is now the ocean as the water was thrown away from it. This would also be interesting for rivers. The entire Mississippi River swallowing everything for miles and miles west of it.

EDIT: Fixed based on choxorn's knowledge.

The rotation speed of the Earth depends on where on it you are standing. At the equator, around 1000 miles an hour.

ive seen that show. it gradually stopped over the period of 5 years.

Notice that most of the top are Monarchies? I guess that is a key to good democracy.

Don't forget Haiti.

That is actually Quite interesting I did not notice that before.
And yes I seem to have forgotten about Haiti.

Also regarding the Earth Spinning: Lets just hope it never happens ;)

National records for the 100m sprint.

In North Korea no one is allowed to sprint. Sprinters are counterreveloutionary traitrors who will be shot on site. Long live Kim Jong IL.

And Sudan. And Somalia. And Yemen. And Haiti. And... Peru? Why are they grey? No records there?

Yeah, you'd think with their ancestry they'd be rather good sprinters :crazyeye:

Wait! There's law in Somalia?

Law needs a government to be recognized as law. In anarchy, there's just the law of the jungle. So if you have a strong enough militia and control few districts of Mogadishu, you can make your own rules. Of course it won't be official. As for sharia, that's a religious code.

Someone ought to make GTA: Mogadishu :mischief:

Yep, he's living the high life of army rations and bottled water.

economical zones of the Baltic Sea. I coloured the map. It seems there are ongoing conflicts between:
Poland and Denmark
Lithuania and Latvia
Lithuania, Latvia and Sweden
Latvia and Sweden
Estonia and Sweden
Finland and Sweden (?)

Asserting our might ;)

The stupidest part is that Åland (you see the island group between Finland and Sweden) belongs to Finland, though they speak Swedish!

I think that the fact that Lapland belongs to Sweden although they speak lappish, or Skania belongs to Sweden although they speak danish, is as stupid :mischief:

Also, I think Germany got surprisingly advantageous sea borders with Sweden and Poland. What surprises me as well is that in Botnicka bay (whatever, the one between Sweden and Finland) the basis of the border is the mainland shore, it seems (while taking finnish islands into consideration would make it worse for sweden), while further south Sweden demands that it would not be the case, and swedish islands (Gotland, Oland) be taken into consideration.
