Altered Maps XVIII: Continuing Curious Cartography

Keep in mind that the map is just someone's fantasy. There is no reason for any of it to be logical or even reasonable
Definitely would not accuse the mapmaker of displaying much logic or reasoning.

Anyone have an idea what is up with that weird enclave in Romania?

It's an area of notable magyar presence.
And it's pretty obvious that altered maps are altered, let's not be without our minds ;)

I was going to say vampires, but magyars makes more sense.
You see it incorporated in the terrible nazi-era border, since Hungary had to eat a corridor to it.
For example:

It’s been pointed out that Sweden has a large migrant population, but that aside there’s questions I have: are native Swedes more likely to use a different app, or does this coloring represent a simple plurality and Swedes who do use it have a greater diversity in languages they choose to study?

I was bored, so I made maps of what a hypothetical Democrat or Republican landslide might look like in a US presidential election. These sort of landslides happened somewhat often from the 1930s-80s, but no candidate has won 400 electoral votes since 1988.

NM is blue.

In both cases though you can drive coast-to-coast without ever happening to stop in a Republican or Democrat state.

The last time this happened was also 1988.

ninja edit: also reminds me of the old game show Blockbusters.

What would an apportioned electoral map from 2020 look like if it applied to every state?

Not every state apportions its electors by winner-take-all: in the cases of Nebraska and Maine, electors are chosen from the winners of congressional districts.

Interesting! We can move this to another thread maybe, but are states allowed to change how they pick electors? Do the feds have to agree?

My understanding is that it is up to the states, but it has to depend on a vote.

States do choose electors, but there are rules. In 2020 Trump tried to get fake electors to take the place of the real electors as a way to keep him in office. He tried it in 7 states and in some of those the fake electors have been indicted.
