Ask a polytheist

It's the Tavern, I made a pop culture reference rather than a serious insult, and I followed it up with some legitimate questions. If Gangleri minds I'll abstain in the future.

Do you get discriminated for being a polytheist?

I've never had any problem for being polytheist. In fact, I've had good relationships with everybody.

gang this is great please keep posting more along the same lines, in the same sort of bite-size chunks?

Just ask the question I'll answer it int the most precise and concise way.

So, were you raised a polytheist? If not, what were you initially and what drew you to polytheism?

I converted to my current religion. I was raised an atheist and didn't belong to any other religion before my conversion. Until today I cannot explain what drove me to polytheism. It was like a feeling that urged me to convert to polytheism. Pretty weird (see weird's etymology) if we take in account that I never met anothe polytheist before that or that I had never shown interest in polytheistic religions and religion in general.

would i be considered a "TRUE" polytheist because i celebrate their Holy days (holidays) and ethnic food festivals...

Do you believe in the gods and praise them or just celebrate pathetically christianized pagan festivals?

would i be considered a "TRUE" polytheist because i celebrate their Holy days (holidays) and ethnic food festivals...

I don't mind as long as you don't abuse it.

I could be wrong. But I don't think this is relevant or helpful in a serious thread on Polytheism. Please resist, if I may humbly so beg you, from posting any other information of this nature. This probably fiction.

its probably canon ....

What do you think about William Blake?

Never heard of him. I'm reading his wiki article right now and I see he was a christian. Why do you think it would be relevant for a polytheist?

What I described isn't fictional within the context of the fictional Battlestar Galactica universe.
This plainly nonsense. Please refrain from making posts of this nature. There may be some people reading this who have an impressional nature and who will find that this impedes them. Please select another thread for making facetious remarks. I beg this of you in all sincerity.

You may very well have a point. But this is not the time and place for it in the light of your previous comment about something not being fictional in the context of a fictional Universe. Please refrain immediately or I shall have to request Moderator action. Cease and desist. Is this clear?

so me answering your questions is some how wrong

I will just point out that in Australia their is along tradition of putting Jedi down as a religion on a census form... is that THEN not part of the polytheist religions and the practice is being stamped out by the government just like china tries to stamp out Falun Gon

is this a debate about polytheist or only the aproved proper other gods

edit# took a while to find ...but about 70,000 people were Jedi, making it one of the fastest growing religions #

This last post of yours seems entirely reasonable. Please excuse me if I have misinterpreted your intentions. I am very ignorant. But you will agree that the statement about fictional things inside other fictional things (I forget exactly how you put it) is likely to mislead rather than enlighten. Please keep all future statements as simple and brief as possible.

And I thought debating over one God was interesting. I would still like to hear why William Blake showed up in this thread?

William Blake has a great deal to tell us that is relevant. I would point you most importantly to the Marriage of Heaven and Hell. I was asking gang what he thought.

What would your religion be if Tolkien hadn't existed ?

Do you believe in the actual existence of your gods, or do you just interpret them as allegories and lessons on how to live a moral life?

Is there many people following this religion where you live?
Does your conversion has relation with the arrival of visigoths to catalonia?
Were visigoths following the Nine Noble Virtues or something similar before becaming Christians?

Which one is your favourite God, and in what way do you practise your religion? (Traditions, activities, that sort of thing)

Do you believe in the actual existence of your gods, or do you just interpret them as allegories and lessons on how to live a moral life?

This.

Do you really *believe* in this stuff, or is it just a sort of "way of life" that doesn't require actual belief in the existence of all the gods, goddesses, spirits, spiritual places, etc. etc. etc.?
