Ask a Sunni Muslim

Yes I know. I tried to ask him how seriously he(and other Bosnians for that matter) took the stone, as opposed to the Arabs who I know take it very seriously. If I had said "other Arabs", then I would have implied he was an Arab.

edit: it is possible the sentence is more ambiguous in English than in my native Norwegian.
I was talking to random...you know, the post directly above mine?

Sorry. I was actually a bit unsure there.

But no reason to let the entire post go to waste: Are there any Christian missionaries down in Bosnia? Anyone tried to convert you? Which denomination have the most missionaries?

what do you mean special, if you're talking in comparison to the other two Abrahamic faiths, the fact that we have one more prophet and a few other things.

Can you please list all the prophets that Sunni recognizes?

No there aren't any in the Vatican, the Sunni/shia split happened when one faction of Islam didn't recognize Muhammades pbuh successor Abu Bakr (that our prophet on his death bed appointed), they think Ali (the son in law) should have been the first in line to succeed Muhammad pbuh, but he did become the fourth "rightful" Caliph. And a few cultural differences

You sound biased... is there any reason for Shias to think Ali was the successor?

Why is it important that Muslims be buried on their sides facing Mecca?
What are weddings like?

Shia: deviant heretics or sub-human scum?

Are there any 'coming of age' occasions in Islam?
Have you or will you go on your journey to the holy land someday? Or do you not care?
Are there any details concerning God and Satan that go beyond Christianity?
Do Muslims believe in exorcism?

Why do you call them 'horsehockeyes'?

I know that, but in English it's spelled 'Shiite' because, 'horsehockeye' means, you know…

shi'ite, not shiite, technically; we just tend to remove the 'ayn.

Is this your position or the 'official' position or Sunni Scholars?

Official position of scholars

What's your view about that stone in Mekka. Do you take it as seriously as the Arabs do, who all want to kiss it?

Idk about kissing I never heard about that, but we are required to go on the Hajj (to the stone)

What are your preferred Anglicizations of Moslem/Muslim, Koran/Qur'an, and Muhammad/Muhammed/Mohammed/Mahomet? Do you find any of these annoying or offensive?

It's all the same to me, as long as its pronounced right.

Can you please list all the prophets that Sunni recognizes?

It also says that every people has been given its own prophet

You sound biased... is there any reason for Shias to think Ali was the successor?

He was the son-in-law of the prophet, but on the prophets death bed, the prophet said Abu Bakr should take over the Islamic state, but the Shiites refused to recognize him as the successor

What are weddings like?

I think its just custom, since we turn to Mecca when we pray. Weddings here in Bosnia are western like, I never seen a truly Islamic wedding so I don't know

Shia: deviant heretics or sub-human scum?

You can't say they are scum, heretics yes but scum, no

No coming of age ritual, probably but I think it's more to do with the fact of me loving to travel then it does with me with my piousness. God isn't really described in a material form, but it does say he sees all, hears all and knows all, he is forever, he was never born and he will never die, he has no relatives... The satan isn't really described but he was an angel that refused to do gods order, the surah

It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels prostrate to Adam, and they prostrate; not so Iblis (Lucifer); He refused to be of those who prostrate."

(Allah) said: "What prevented thee from prostrating when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay.

Do people of the book have a chance of getting into heaven without being Muslim?
It is debated all over the Muslim world, some say yes some say no

Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.

Do heathens, pagans and atheists have a chance of getting into heaven without being Muslim?

No

Is horsehockeyes more aggresive (on a country or personal level) than Sunnis, or is that a myth?

Iran thats my answer

Iran thats my answer

Well that's a rather complicated subject (both Shi'ite aggression and Iran). Through most of their history, the Shi'at 'ali were rather ruthlessly persecuted, as they have always been a disorganized minority (though not that organized minorities like the Khairjites fared much better), to the point that it's become a more or less central tenet of both types of Shi'ite Islam that if required, you can lie about your faith to escape danger.

As for Iran, they are the great bastion of Twelver Shi'a. Think of them like the working class in the USSR: they've been constantly screwed throughout history, so now that they've come out on top for a change, they're very vocal and enthusiastic about their ability to defend themselves from the powers that formerly oppressed them. At least that is the attitude of the religious leaders of the country, the secular behavior of men like Ahmadinejad is an entirely different matter, one better explained by Iran/Persia's historical and geographic place in SW Asia.

I'm curious, what do you believe about this?

Also, what is Hell in Islam? Is it eternal punishment? Annihilation? Something else?

@Takhisis- Yes you are right. Thanks for putting me on track;)
