Brexit Thread VII - Revenge of the Brexiteers

We have until the 31st Jan, though it is a "flextension", whatever that means. It is not like any of the extensions kept us in, we could have left at any point if we wanted no deal.

Actually, these extensions do keep the UK in the EU. Legally, a no-deal exit is only possible at the end of an extension and the period can only be cut short if a deal is made. This is nothing new, however, because even the initial two-year period specified in Article 50 could have been cut short by an exit deal. So, yeah, "flextension" is some kind of marketing term.

As uppi said, ‘flextension’ is a term meant to make it clearer that it is a period in which the UK defaults into (pro tempore) full EU membership but during which the UK can exit earlier if it actually makes a deal.

I suggest using a dumpster fire as the image for the next commemorative coin

Brexit delay 'forces UK to destroy commemorative coins' as exit date pushed out to January
The UK has been in meltdown over Brexit so long it seems only fitting the mint now has to melt thousands of 50 pence coins it created to mark the planned October 31 departure from the EU.
A spokesman for the Treasury said the mint would still produce a coin to mark the UK's departure from the EU — whenever that took place.

David Cameron spends £9 million on why remaining in the EU was good for the UK - outrage at unregulated spending, how dare the Remain campaign cheat, etc.
Boris Johnson spends £100 million on "Get ready for Brexit", countless more on Yellowhammer preparations and on commemorative coins - business as usual, apparently.

Outrage from the Murdoch tabloids busy with their control of the public opinion agenda and discussion topics.

Would any of the current cabinet members survive a dedicated attack of the tabloids ?

And if none or few... who is actually controlling the country ???

Just when things were getting boring - Labour will back a December general election now that the EU have granted the extension.

Because the stupid Bojo won't table his "deal" for fear of it actually being scrutinised by the people whose job it is to do just that.

Ok, then why did the stupid libdems and SNP give Bojo his election wish on a platter? (rhetorical question)
Wasn't this which caused Jeremy to agree to an election?

Hopefully.

So, the Farage will be his usual self and not run Farage-party mps in tory leave seats?
Well, BoJo has done a pretty good job of getting rid of the remain tories, so there could be very few seats left for him to contest, meaning he will be irrelevant. I hope he will not like that and run candidates in most / all seats. It is a strange situation where we may be saved from an extreme right wing parliament presiding over brexit by Farage.

All poor little Nige wanted was to be accepted in the Bullyington club :(

I am unclear what Nigel Farage's definition of a Tory leave seat now is?

At one stage it was Voted Leave tories who did not vote for any of Theresa May's bills for the vassalage agreement.

As Johnson's seat in Uxbridge/ South Ruislip is a bit wobbly there are rumours he might put himself in a safe Tory seat somewhere.

Amendments being discussed and voted for at the moment.

Sucks to be the nominally elected MP in that case, eh?

Bojo already denied he will kick that mp out so as to not risk himself not be elected. Iirc his exact words were that he'd "rather be found dead in a ditch".

Not for nothing did Mark Gatiss christen him "Diana Ditch".

Fans of Britain’s long-running comedy-drama Brexit are today overjoyed after learning that another season of the popular show has been commissioned.

Just when it looked like the UK’s telly addicts would need to find another boxset to binge-watch it has been announced that Brexit – possibly the greatest farce since Fawlty Towers and a fantasy to rival Game of Thrones – will roll on for at least one more season.
