Chomsky: the hypocrite

Zimmerman's about replaced abortion.

The same thing that happens to most threads here eventually. CFC OT Entropy = gay marriages, Bibles, and sometimes Zimmerman.

If only we had mods to enforce thread content.

Some of the best discussion we get on CFC comes from off-topic tangents. The light-touch approach does allow topics to succumb to the sort of entropy that Peter mentions, but it also allows some really interesting, organic lines of conversation to develop, and I'll readily take the former if it's the condition of the latter.

The difference, in my experience, is simply that when you're going down a productive side-road, you're not consciously aware of the tangential nature of the discussion, but when a thread slide into gay Zimmeran aborting Ron Paul's guns in Israel, you tend to realise and groan inwardly. And it's not that the latter is more common- I'd say it's much less so- only that it's more familiar.

My point stands. I'd be all to pleased to see the usual suspects for thread derailment... Dealt with.

That would not be in the spirit of Tavern moderation, though. That's more Chamber rules. I agree it can be frustrating, as a previously interesting discussion goes down the intertubes, but it works the other way as well - fruitful tangential discussions can be better than their root at times.

Pretty bold talk for someone who has yet to have a post in line with the topic in this thread.

Don't blame me, blame the CFCsociety that raised me to post out of topic.

You were raised to have a cultural commitment to out of topic?

3) I'm not seeing three. What would your 3 or 4 or 15 be again?

I'm not doing your remembering for you. All you've done here is confirmed the notion that you do indeed just ignore what you can't refute or don't want to acknowledge.

Where's Kryiaialkios when you need a Zimmerman gif?

Hey, it's been months. Sorry we don't agree on everything. You are a great poster, and we do agree on a bunch of stuff, but the fact that I am not Hobbs' clone #1 doesn't mean I don't read what you say. Can you still send me polar bears every now and then? They've found where I keep the schnapps and they're starting to be decent company. They certainly keep the cats busy.

23 days isn't really a necro. If it was a couple of months...

I'm just yanking his chain. :smug:

How does a thread die? I have seen threads disappear, and locked. None of those have be necroed. If that is spelled wrong, spell check wants to change it to encore, how coincidental.
