I think the use of the term "premium timepiece" seems to indicate a fully functioning clock and not just a decorative piece. At least to me.

As far as I know, Fanatical is legitimate, and their deals are from taking a lower profit cut and passing on some of that to the customer. Steam takes 30% IIRC, so if you buy the Founders Edition at $130, $39 of that goes to Steam and Firaxis only gets $91. Thus Fanatical can offer it at 12% off at $114, still give Firaxis $91 (or even a bit more), and still make money, so long as their overhead costs are not too high.

Epic, by comparison, takes a 12% cut, so Firaxis would make $114.40 from a Founders Editon sold there, assuming no discounts. We can also tell from that that Epic can make things work with $15.60 in profits to cover their platform, which implies Fanatical can also likely make a go of it with $23 in profits.

So it passes the "does it make financial sense for them?" question too. Which is always good to think about when looking at discounts, if it looks too good to be true, it often is. In this case, Steam's 30% cut gives quite a bit of wiggle room, and as long as Firaxis still makes their $91, they have no reason to be opposed to Fanatical's discount.

I don't think Firaxis has officially released the specs they encourage, so technically this is guess work and needs that disclaimer. I also was curious and went searching for estimated specs recently. Usually these will land you in the right ballpark but are certainly subject to Firaxis's final decision that they wish to support. I mostly shared so that anyone interested has a larger advanced notice if they feel the need to upgrade. I assumed the copy/paste was PCGamingBenchmark's but it was not. I feel the edited specs relatively reliable speculations to get you in the right idea. Firaxis is not known for running well on low end specs at launch unfortunately. It is worth chasing the recommended as best that you can if you plan to play at launch.

Thank you. It does seem like a legitimate seller. From googling it seems one downside is you may get the key day of, rather than being able to preload, so you may miss up to a day or so of game time at launch.

This helpful spreadsheet was made by @Dale. It shows what each version of Civilization VII--base, Deluxe, and Founder's--contains, which can be difficult to parse on Steam.

To clarify, Tecumseh and Shawnee will be available for separate purchase, and not all the DLC is releasing at once.

Yes. What you own on steam can be played on all platforms that steam (and the game) supports. So, if you buy it on steam, you can play it on mac and PC.

Thanks, it is becoming increasingly difficult to resist the urge to just buy the Founders Edition and enjoy the wait!

Edit: Enough of this going back and forth about whether to pre-order or not (and what edition), so I just pre-ordered the Founders Edition.
