On the wave of the different elimination threads that have been going, here is a new one concerning the civs in game strictly speaking. As the other threads, you choose one to upvote (+1) and one to downvote (-3). You can take into many factors to up/downvote a civ, may it be its worthyness, its over all gameplay, its faithfulness to the historical civ it represents, the choice of its leader(s), UU, UB, UI or other abilites, ... You have plenty of reasons, and when voting, share your thoughts with the others please.
And of course, only vote once every 24 hours, please. Have fun, and here are the rankings

Arabia - 20 + 1 = 21 I have tons of fun playing with them, and I really like the mix of a religious ans science civ, that depicts very well medieval Arabia. Plus, that Mamluk cavalry is insane !

On balance I think America is the civ about whom I would change nothing. Excellent choice and depiction of leader, an interesting move away from Revolutionary era into where America was finding its role as a global power.

When I heard Kongo was in Civ 6, I was incredibly happy, but I feel the choice of making them unable to found a religion is a colossal misstep. By all means give them bonuses for converting, but disallowing a Religious victory, while giving slightly absurd bonuses towards a cultural victory instead isn't really the best way of representing them, in my view.

I like the empire building and sea-going bonuses that England gets, true to it's history, and especially in Civ5, the way the ship of the line helped you dominate the seas in the pre industrial era.

Germany because they are an industrial powerhouse, but that is only in more modern times (certainly after the industrial revolution. Where as barbarossa lived in the 1200s or something. It's incongruous.

India - 21 (20 + 1) - A distinctive, cohesive civ with tall, mostly peaceful play and unique religious mechanics perfectly complementing each other. I'm not a fan of the perpetual choice of Gandhi as leader, but there's a separate thread for that.

Sumer - 17 (20 - 3) - The devs took arguably the first civ in history and instead of building around that (perhaps with a jump start to infrastructure of some sort) they instead went with Epic of Gilgamesh: The Civ. Having an ancient civ whose UI is primarily focused on getting you out of the ancient era as quickly as possible doesn't make much sense either.

Germany - 18 (17 + 1) feels like Germany. Special cities with more districts, production bonuses and a medieval leader that gets some military in there. I never liked Germany in earlier civ games, it was always too militaristic for my taste. Now we just need a Germany in civ VII that focusses on culture...

Australia didn't need to be in the game yet, not with the selection of base civs already including 2 colonials and missing many series staples. While I appreciate the fact that they are covering a geographic region that had been empty before in every game beforehand making them useful for TSL (not a mode I enjoy but I see the appeal) they just seem like a very boring pick.

As for Spain I just think everything about them is very thematic and fitting for the civilization. All the bonuses play off their historical strengths, their leader is both colorful and a bit unorthodox (I'd been suggesting Philip II for a long time but thought he would never make it in due to historians' mixed opinions of him and the ubiquity of Isabella's presence in the series) and overall I just feel like they capture the essence of the culture without focusing way too much on a single facet of it.

Germany - 19 - 3 = 16 (U Boats as a unique unit? Seriously? When boats are barely useful in the game anyway, you suddenly make a late-age one? Why does Barbarossa not get a medieval unique unit, or some other unique unit, like other leaders that have a modernish/later UU (America, England)? Barbarossa was a great leader choice but they simply made him a city-state hater rather than the more complex being that he was, who both fought religious leaders and died for them)
Greece - 20
India - 18
Japan - 20
Kongo -11 + 1 = 12 (Interesting unique abilities for both the civ and its leader, and the only civ with a significant downside (it cannot win religiously). This makes them interesting without narrowing their choices. The extra Great People points are great, but you *don't* want to always pick the next Great Artist available since it's primarily sculptures that you'd want to use to power your civ bonus. Also, they are great at growing huge populations, and the fact that Firaxis chose them to be in the base game after much support for them in Civ V forums does deserve a commendation. It was the first time I really felt Firaxis listened to its fans).

Persia - 17
Poland - 21 (20+1) They really did show Poland's golden age in Civ VI. She has a great land and trade potential. She's a little religious, and a little militaristic. Jadwiga is somewhat a wierd choice, but gives an interesting religious dynamic with culture bombs.

Brazil - 17 + 1 = 18 Brazil provides an interesting addition to the "district bonus puzzle." The unique unit is strange but cartoonishly powerful. Has a secret ability RE: rainforest that removes negative appeal and changes how the map works.
China - 20
Egypt - 20 - 3 = 17 There's a reason this is one of the first civs I buffed with mods. Building faster on river tiles means little since the bonus is small and flood plains specifically are usually where you do not want to build districts on. Meh unique unit, meh leader ability, meh tile improvement. One of the least interesting versions of Egypt in the civ series IMO.

Norway - 12 (15-3) Yeah, uninspired and boring. Firaxis finally managed to give Germany a non-Prussian leader, their next step should be to make non-stereotypical Vikings.
