The meteor showers are different from the comet strike. The comet destroys your city, and only appears with apocalypse mode; the meteor showers appear with or without apocalypse mode, and (probably) drop iron
OK so it's 1 am to my place, I'm heading to bed, I put an alarm at 6 am to be ready to purchase and install it. I've some tea prepared and awaiting for me in my fridge, I'll read the patch note while it's downloading and installing, and I'll enjoy the sunrise while I'm preparing in my head all I'll thrive with the Mayas...
Simón's is clearly the same as Pedro's, but Lady Six Sky's is brand new. Of course, we can't be sure that Simón will have his own unique "agree" (or "disagree") animation, but this nonetheless lends credence to the theory that the "agree" animations we saw in the first looks were merely placeholders. We'll know for sure in just under five hours.
I think they should have had the livestream earlier, or first listens at least. But I’m happy release is upon us soon. I’ll be curious to play both civs and see what the new achievements are.
Gonna be honest I'm probably just gonna go with playing Rome. I always play a rome game first on every update to see how the changes effect things. Here's hoping for a beefy patch

Preorders on Steam are a special thing that's not available to every developer for every release. I'm not sure what kind of special propitiations are required, but my guess is that they include giving Valve buckets of cash. Since this DLC series is evidently being done on the cheap, they probably judged the cost-benefit analysis to be not worth it.

In regards to the patch notes, I'm confused. Should I expect them to be available as soon as the DLC lands? Would be weird to get an update with no documentation of the changes.
Something I'd love is more governors. It's just tiring to have the same choices every single game. Give me a diplomacy governor (AMBASSADOR!!!!) that works on actual civs, not just city states. Split Pingala into a science person and a culture person.
etc
Edit: Also, make alliances... do anything. If I've done the work to become allies with every player in the game, I should simply be getting a free diplomatic victory.
Edit 2: And another thing. More interesting choices for world congress resolutions. Half the time I can't even be bothered to figure out which amenities I have duplicates of because I just don't care enough for the measly bonus.
I wouldn't be a fan of that. If I'm playing a culture game, Pingala is great for getting my science up; if I'm playing a science game, Pingala is great for getting my culture up. (I wouldn't say no to more governors, though.)
