[NFP] Civilization VI: New Frontier Pass Discussion Thread

Has the loyalty mechanic changed? New to playing Alexander but I am getting cities I have captured flipping in a few turns even with a governor, making a game i thought I was doing well in a total waste of time after two failed wars. i.e. I have to keep retaking the same cities and get bogged down and weakened.

That seems to be working as intended? Loyalty might have some issues but making it useless isn't the solution.

Did you set up properly for war? Victor available with appropriate promotion, having nearby cities with high population, avoiding spearheading, picking the right policies?

You can always raze and settle your own city.

one question that has hit me and forgive me if this has been answered already but with the future releases, are we expecting them on the 21st of every month? 3rd thursday of every month? i am curious to see what schedule they are going to stick to. especially for community patches.

I have not seen or heard anything that specific. Thursdays are common release/patch days, so third Thursday is a very reasonable guess. But still a guess.

Nothing is certain, but I wouldn't expect them to be released earlier than at one month intervals. So seeing them around or after the 21st is a pretty good guess.

I haven’t played Civ in a while, so maybe it’s not new, but has AI ever levied units before this patch?
Cause I’m looking at a small Vatican/Zulu army in my game right now (no mods, emperor difficulty)
Makes me wonder about increased strength of AI Hungary.

Yes, the AI has been levying units since at least Gathering Storm (as it's a major feature for Hungary).

My current game as Alexander now faces enemy AI properly using fighter planes! This is the first time I saw AI use them.

And Cleopatra conquered all city states that she can reach then decided to pursue war on me!

The more I play the more I feel there's a dire need for a colonial governor in the game, with boosts to loyalty etc when in foreign continents.

Hoping that becomes a thing.

Just had a thought. What if the new district is a colonial district? That gives loyalty bonuses to cities on continents other than your capital. It might produce no or very little yields but allow you to build a colonial empire

The districts and buildings do not require R&F, so no loyalty mechanics.

Also, it's counter-productive, since you'd need it asap for it to be effective and districts take a while to build. A building which boosts loyalty makes sense... but that's what the monument already does.

I love that idea. and we need one related to wonders! how is there not a single governor with anything related to wonders? :)

I don't think we need one specifically for that. Seems like something Liang could handle. E.g:

(II) Reinforced Materials - This city's improvements, buildings and districts cannot be damaged by Environmental Effects. +10% Production towards Wonders in this City.

Bonuses towards wonders from abilities, government type and policies are already considerable though, so maybe that's going a bit overboard.

I'd say that's because policies and governments already cover the wonder production bonus thing.

An alternative could be that civs in an era earlier than you exert less disloyalty pressure on your cities

There is. Victor.

Beyond that, Pingala and Reyna provide +% bonuses, which leverage many Wonder bonuses exceedingly well.

Amani can also help you get you bonuses with Industrial City states that boost Wonders.

wonder production bonus is pretty boring, I was thinking more about specifying into particular types of wonders, something with great works, and a bonus related to religious wonders.

Only one of those is directly related to wonders though :)
