It's usually called scholar-official (CN)/yangban (KR)/samurai (JPN) in the west, not intelligentsia.
Just a sidenote, Yangban and Samurai were hereditary, but scholar-officials were not; one need to pass the Civil Examination.
Yangban and Samurai were basically aristocrats, while Imperial China technically didn't have a non-royal aristocrat class after Tang dynasty (with the exception of Qing - Manchu nobles and Bannermen were kind of in an aristocratic status, but they were clearly not scholar-officials).
