CoD: MW2 will NOT have dedicated servers for the PC

100 ping is playable? Barely so. There is noticeable skipping for me. Bullets and knives not connecting when they ought to at times.

Yeah it is designed for 18 players on the console, in large part due to the limitations of the console multiplayer system which doesn't use dedicated servers. It could easily have maps that can handle more people, like 16vs16 on the PC. BF2 is a very different style of play, and doesn't have those automatic attack helicopters, UAV (which is rather cheap) or the new other stuff that allows a player on a streak to basically wipe out the enemy considering they have relatively few places to hide/take cover on a small map.

CSS, TF2 and BF2 are very different FPS games compared to CoD...

Ridiculous *facepalm*. Remember the days when PC gaming pushed technology forward and helped consoles evolve? Nowadays developers develop games for consoles and port crappy versions to PC, and the PC versions are polluted by all the unthinkable console problems. Jayzus.

As for PC vs Console

Console = harder to aim, takes more practice to master the control

PC = Most people can aim pretty well, makes it more important to take cover, seems to require more tactical choices and patience

Not true, I takes literally a day to learn how to shoot properly, and mastering it is easy after completing Single Player.

Er not really, I can aim and shoot with a console but it is still inaccurate and more frustrating when trying to aim at a specific spot, and certainly not nearly that easy to master as with a mouse.

Perhaps you're one of those people who can somehow master it quicker, but that certainly isn't everyone.

just don't confuse harder with less fun. ;)

Actually mouse is unrealistic. What kind of soldier can aim and shoot with such accuracy? Only a PC gamer, that's who. :p

Being frustrated due to the controls is NOT fun, difficulty can be fun, at least in the end, but not when it comes to controls. The entire point of controls is to give you CONTROL! I don't feel like I am entirely in control with a gamepad.

The console controllers are just as unrealistic, and the games, usually, even more so due (I assume) to the controls. And probably the devs. I have no idea how Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising or the original opflash play on x-boxes.

if you really wanted realistic controllers they would come equipped with model guns.

Figures one of the most anticipated games of the year which was ORIGINALLY FROM THE PC, would fail on the PC.

Its not even just the complete radical scrapping of a decent PC multiplayer system, its that it was announced so close to release, until recently everyone thought the game was going to be like the last one, only better, then after the pre-orders go up BAM information that the game is going to be very different and everyone goes WTH?

Kind of a disgrace to PC gamers I think... PC has much more potential than any console, it is the consoles that are holding back the PC.

i have never been frustrated with controls on call of duty on ps3... much the opposite, i feel a great sense of satisfaction when i hit a good headshot, as i know it actually took skill to do. on the other hand, when i snipe on pc, it is very very simple, and hence very very unsatisfying.

Again, this is what I'm saying. The actual aiming is not where I get my fun in a game like CoD4. Aiming at people doesn't give me satisfaction. I much prefer the tactical\cover\reaction aspects of the game, which are way more present in a PC. Since everybody can be excellent at shooting on the PC version, I take a lot less "running across a field" chances. It feels a lot less like free for all. Sure, if I'd play Halo, then I'd probably prefer the console version, because it seems like it's built for that more chaotic individualist "ah I shot you in the head" feeling.

if you prefer tactics in an fps, call of duty is pretty lacking compared to certain others.

Uhhh, depends on the level you are playing..

Ever played counterstrike? total headshot fest..... With COD if you want to get the nice streaks you really need to have good tactics and skill. I played COD 4 on the PS3 and on the PC, and on the PS3 people were seriously lacking any kind of aim. I enjoy shooters on the PC more than on the console.

i didn't suggest counterstrike, which i agree is very dependent on good aim. the fps with most tactics i have ever played would be tf2, simply due to the enormous class variation.

Personally the lack of multiplayer features or whatever isn't really going to influence any decision I make to buy it at all. I don't usually buy fps games, but I've enjoyed the singleplayer campaigns of all call of duty games that I've played (1, 2 and MW1), so I'll probably look at picking this up at some point. Probably the 360 version, even though I don't like console fps aiming much. Easier for me to trade in for store credit when I'm finished with it though. ;)

In which case, Thrawn, you might as well rent it when the rentals have a decent length of time for rent and are available. That way you won't be forking out $59 or $69 on a game you're only really getting for the singleplayer.
