Why is Japan actually almost 3 times the size of Korea and it seems as large as South East Asia?
Japan is actually 3/2 the size of Korea.
I guess it is so that Japan has sufficient land to settle.

Blame Rhye. It's his map (the same pre-packaged Earth 18 map in fact).
The same problem persists for the British Isles.

I understand that it's like that for balance, but scale-wise,
it's atrocious, I agree with you.

Yeah, that's the reason. You might have noticed that Europe and the British Isles in particular are also larger than they should be. It's simply that Rhye scaled up the regions of Earth where many civs reside so they have enough space to reach their historical potential.

I agree and disagree on both sides.

Korea definitely need more cities, rather than just Seoul and, if lucky, Pyongyang or culture flip Shenyang from China.

In the other hand, if Korea is enlarged, it'll be awkward if China is not enlarged too! British Isles and Japan can be easily enlarged because it's not connected to the mainland. Europe.. well.. you can see how awkward the Levant and Eastern Balkan is.

I think Korea is fine the way it is. It usually makes a reasonable army, and a massive navy. It also gets technologies at a decent rate. However, when I was playing as China, the Holy Roman Empire vassalised it around 1550...

Our knowledge has made us cynical,
our cleverness hard and unkind.
We think too much and feel too little:
More than machinery we need humanity;
More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness.

There's simply no way to change the map at this point anyway.

I recall that there was some discussion a while back about India being able to found Zoroastrianism (and thus getting the temples easily), so I gave it a shot and I was able to get on the third try with couple turns to spare.

Good to know, and good work :goodjob: I knew someone like you would be able to do that.

I managed to found Buddhism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Catholicism, and Islam in one game as India :p

I don't think you should import the Varietas Delecate mod. There are many "unreasonable" things in that mod ,such as using a early medieval heavy spearman model as a pikeman .
If you really need a flavor units system ,I think the models in RFC-Europe ,RFC-Asia,SOI are better and more historical ,or just design it by yourself .

This is exactly the reason why I haven't included VD already. Simply porting it wouldn't be too hard, but I'd like to have control over what I add and that makes everything a little more complicated :)

I've made most of the civs present in the mod with unit-artstyles, only exempting Thailand, and if you want, I could make them if you want(after Celtia).

Sure!

That would take a couple of years, at best, on making various maps, unit rebalancing, calendar adjustments, and additional civilizations. At least, we're going to see significantly less "OMG Look What Happened" posts for it.

I don't like GEM that much anyway.
