Maybe they are doing a new game in the XCOM style that is taking place in medieval times or in a medieval fantasy setup with magic and swords? Might be fun...
Why do they need more swords sounds for civ?

My only real issue with Vietnam is knowing that since SEA is typically shafted, Vietnam getting in means there's a chance they might decide against bringing in Burma (who I want a bit more) or bringing back the Khmer, especially if Siam comes back too.
In a just world they're a great choice and should absolutely be in.

That's the issue with many non-European regions. They choose so few civs from among many choices, that inevitably a large portion of the fandom will be critical of them, simply because a personal preference was overlooked.

I bring this up every time there's a discussion of which Native American civ to include. If we could hope to see more than two, the Iroquois should be perennials, but given that I'm pretty certain Civ5 was the first Civ game to include more than one...from an entire continent...of hundreds of civilizations...Yeah.

It's why I prefer to have no repeating appearances in the lesser-covered regions. Because, if we can't have a lot of civs from overlooked regions in each iteration of the game, then there should be a new one each time, so that a number can be covered eventually through the series.

It's the flaw that even when all the expansions are out, they only have about 40 civs to play with, and that's got to be spread around the globe, and throughout all of human history as well. I would agree, though, in general it's nice to see new civs, if only because it helps teach everyone a little more. So while I would still like to see Mali, Ethiopia, and the Zulu back for either historical or civ-tradition reasons, it's fun to see new civs like Nubia and Kongo give us a new view.
There is also a picture of a pile of gear on the floor with a microphone pointed at it. They probably want the sound of all that stuff being dropped.
Assuming you are correct about leader sound effects, then they would be going for a Medieval/Early Renaissance warrior-king. Probably European, since there are steel gauntlets. And probably for an expansion, given the timing. So it might be for a new European civ or an alt leader for an existing civ. Probably not Rome, Spain, or Germany, since they already have leaders in armor. There's still so many choices.
I really hope they won't stop at 40 civs this time around, I would like to see more variety in the same game rather than spread throughout the franchise

Honestly, even if they took a grab bag of like 20+ civs, make a half-assed leader who doesn't move or speak, and don't worry too much about unique artwork, I'd love that. Would be awesome to have a pool of 60+ civs to choose from.
Has the number of civilizations increased in every game in the series? I'm pretty sure it has. Maybe by Civilization XX we'll have a hundred civs, then my country has a chance of getting in.
Has anyone given thought to what will happen to "Jakarta" City state when/if we get Indonesia/Majapahit?
I think what they will do is rename the city state to "Singapore" and move the state to the correct place and keep the same abilities/type ect...
Although it has occurred to me that there are no Maritime city states that give bonuses to Harbours unlike majority of other speciality districts. (I think Harbour, Aerodrome and Spaceport are the only ones that don't have city-states? Harbour should defiantly be one; that or Commercial city states should effect both Commercial Hubs and Harbours.)
I mean seriously, they're one of only a handful of Civs that independently came up with Writing (the single most important discovery there is) AND they were the FIRST true European Civ ever!!!
