Do you think we are Smarter on CFC than Average?

Well, intelligence is impossible to accurately quantify, and hard to measure. I suspect that most of us here are brighter than average, and that OT has sharpened my mind a bit, but then again, I don't know most people that well. Perhaps they're brighter than I give them credit for.

Ha, no I am not. We've a pretty heady group here. But what is weird is that even though I am not smarter than the vast marjority of them, I am typically correct more often than they are. It's kinda odd!

I know I'm smarter than anyone! I'm even smarter than myself sometimes.

Which means I'm only the second smartest person I know.

I don't have any multiple disorders what we know about ;)

No seriously, you can be surprised how ppl you don't even think have half a brain, then you find out they are amateur astronomers and stuff. I don't judge ppl as being brainy or dumb, really.

Except the typical baboons.

But I do believe we have a pretty high percentage of "brainy" people on CFC, but then you find them on all type of forums, so we're not exclusive. :)

I am in fact very stupid but the fact that I can realize it makes me hope that I am smarter than average person abstract  And of course I do know one thing: that I know nothing at all :crazyeye:

I think the average person is far more intelligent than I am, and I think I am more intelligent than the average uninformed person.

However, I feel like everyone uses their intelligence incorrectly, believes too much propaganda, and thus comes to entirely wrong conclusions even while being smart.

So close.

I go to one of the best public schools in Kentucky and the average guy on CFC OT is smarter than the my average classmate in AP classes.

Good school. I had friends there, ages ago.

I'm pretty smart in some areas, and pretty dumb in others.

This thread isn't even about a subject of intelligence... (Not even mentioning the absence of any possible sensible debate of it.)

Thanks to a rare medical condition, a man was rendered "stupid" for a year of his life before surgery corrected the problem.

What life is like when 50 IQ points are knocked off, here is his story!

This is interesting. I've known a number of people who would be considered substantially below average intelligence. I think most of them were well aware of it too.

Too many "intelligent" people seem to me to be unduly proud of their intelligence; when this is largely a matter of an ability they've been born with.

I think it's much more praiseworthy to be kind; which is a quality, I have heard it said, one has to work at.

Well, I can name every single Roman Emperor, both birth name and used name, I know the top ten movies of each year since 1923, I render thesauruses and dictionaries useless because I know every synonym of every word, and I spell every single word correctly.

But don't ask me if I'm using Google. And even if you do, I won't tell you.

The Delphic oracle said I was the wisest of all the Greeks. It is because I alone, of all the Greeks, know that I know nothing.
Socrates

Socrates statement is ever wise. Intelligence is not neccessary the knowing what you know but realising what you do not know.

However, I feel like everyone uses their intelligence incorrectly, believes too much propaganda, and thus comes to entirely wrong conclusions even while being smart.

...and the purpose of this statement is? Are you free from the influence of properganda?

Spoiler :
Everyone uses properganda and influenced by some form of it. Even "neutral" sources can at times full under this. What matters if it is manipulative properganda, the type that tells you to do in a manner of way or pretends it is not properganda with the intent of presenting all others as of properganda.

...and what conclustions are you on about? How do people use their intelligence inccorectly? Examples are a wonderful, wonderful resource.

II was just stating my opinion. Debating the relevance of it does not belong in this thread.

Then why make the statement? If you do not want a statement to be questioned then do not make a statement. All statemenst are set to be questioned. That is a law of debates. Every statement is set for critique.

First, I'm getting a serious déjà vu vibe from this thread.

Second, I'd like to think so, but probably not. Integral's statement probably applies to the most of us--strengths and weaknesses, we've branched out and investigated different things, and so on.

Meh, this thread isn't worth it. Just appreciate Dachs' post and move on. It'll save you a helluvalot of onanism.
