I used to wear one until the strap broke and I've been too lazy to fix it. But I've been eyeing a pocket watch to buy because I love steampunkish thingamajigs.

I wear a watch if I am doing something that requires me to keep track of time. Otherwise, I check the time via my computer, phone, or iPod. And I prefer digital watches.

Whoa, I think I used to have a watch like this maybe 15 years ago.

Cell phone does the same trick and more.

This is defacto default watch for conscripts in Turkey. I had one too. :)

That's the terrorist watch!! The exact model!

According to The Guardian, "the Casio F-91W digital watch was declared to be 'the sign of al-Qaida' and a contributing factor to continued detention of prisoners by the analysts stationed at Guantánamo Bay. Briefing documents used to train staff in assessing the threat level of new detainees advise that possession of the F-91W – available online for as little as £4 – suggests the wearer has been trained in bomb making by al-Qaida in Afghanistan."[3] United States Military intelligence officials have identified the F91W as a watch that terrorists use when constructing time bombs.[4][5][6][7][8]

This association was highlighted in the Denbeaux study, and may have been used in some cases at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.[9] An article published in the Washington Post in 1996 reported that Abdul Hakim Murad, Wali Khan Amin Shah, and Ramzi Ahmed Yousef had developed techniques to use commonly available Casio digital watches to detonate time bombs.[10]

I wear one at work (Casio), but otherwise I never wear one. I used to have a "nice" watch, but it was solar powered and eventually the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I prefer not to wear a cheap casio around town, so I just go without (and use my cell phone if I need to look at the time). I need one for work because I sometimes fill out forms that require the time, and I can't be in possession of a cell phone at work.

I wear one most of the time for aesthetic purposes.

Always wear a watch. Nobody wants to see you pulling your mobile out of your pocket to check the time, because it looks like you're waiting anxiously for a text . For my own part I have one 'dress' watch with a leather strap, and one 'work' watch which I can take walking and into the field without worrying about damaging it

That's awful... I'm looking to see if I can find a picture of ours.

My original (original parade one, so kept in perfect condition) is stored safely but my 'work' watch is exactly the same!

That's almost identical to the one I wear on a daily basis, a practice I've done without fail for over 20 years.

Casio's are not given in Turkey. Watches are not included in standart military equipment (or at least not included for conscripts, don't know about officers). People buy their own watch and f91w is one of the chepast watches but quite durable so it became a tradition here to buy one these before joining your unit for mandotary service.

No, I have a phone. Not to mention there are clocks freaking everywhere (computer, walls, oven, microwave, television, etc.).

I wonder if Casio have to wait until 10:58 and 50 seconds on Sunday 30th June to take a photograph of their watches? Only allowed to take a photo once a year, so they have to do them all at exactly the same time. I really hope that's how it works.

I like the watch, Kan! On closer inspection, the watch in the photo I posted is in distressingly bad condition. Mine's in much better nick!

Zack, when I lived at home, there was virtually a clock in every single room. I've still worn a watch daily since I was nine.
