When they say they want to violently murder you, believe them.

Thanks! Wait, my thread ninjutsu got in the way…

It started badly for Bret Baier, and it did get worse.
In what sense did it get worse? Fox News can spin anything into ‘this is why anything other than extremism is wrong’.

This was supposed to be an interview where Kamala would try to win over some of the independents (?) or even conservatives watching Fox. But surely she shouldn't have been expecting a friendly interview. Among the highlights (it started badly, went on worse) was when there was (apparently) no actual preparation to the obvious follow-up and rhetorical maneuver of the interviewer, when Kamala called Trump unstable, to ask her about Biden.
Btw, what's with Trump's partly orange partly white face? ^^ At least before he was consistently orange.
Bret Baier's attempted hit job for Trump did not go well. As usual he tried to focus on individual events that no one controls to make it appear that Harris was personally responsible for them. He worked very hard to make her look bad. Shae did really well in redirecting his attacks appropriately. You should notice that Trump has avoided any interviews he perceives as unfriendly. Her willingness to walk into the lion's den of Fox News speaks volumes about her willingness to reach out to the few viewers who might change their minds. Trump is a bully, Baier is a bully. His goal was never to provide Fox viewers with a unbiased interview.

By the end of the interview Baier looks pretty stupid.

Walking into a lion's den - well, a fox's den anyway - isn't itself having to be brave, it can be insane if you don't have a plan. If she didn't think there was a chance of this helping her with Fox viewers, she'd had done well to stay out and be content with the Cheneys support ^^

Enjoyed him skipping over Trump's "enemy within" talk, and got called on it. Here's a channel that whines about Trump being called a meanie, but setting the military upon your political opponents is fine.

Kamala Harris won that interview and Fox failed to make her look as bad as Trump would like.

It is a fake tan, so he has probably grabbed the fanny of all the people who are good at applying it.

I do feel it is something we should not ridicule though. Fake tan is so much better for you than the real thing, and most people cannot afford to do it well so we should not make fun of anyone brave enough to look like that in public.

This interview was a slam dunk for Harris. Its obvious that she wasn't expecting a friendly interview and it wasn't friendly at all. She went into hostile territory and gave FOX News viewers information that they would never have gotten otherwise. She was clearly well prepared, with a plan to fend off all of Baier's criticisms and attempts to diminish her. One of the best parts was when Baier desperately tried to change the subject to Biden, and Harris cooly and firmly reminded him that Biden wasn't on the ballot. What was so great about that is that Trump fanbois loved mocking and talking about Biden being old and his cognitive decline and so on, then trying to hide their bias for Trump by BSAB'ing the age issue... but once Biden dropped out they stopped talking about age and cognitive decline, despite it being painfully obvious with Trump. Baier was pandering to the Trump fanbois who are seething that Biden isn't in the race anymore, because they can't dunk on Biden being old/senile/etc. They are burning up over it, and Baier was trying to throw them a bone by bringing up Biden.

She swept away any criticism about her not taking interviews, because now even the FOX News faithful will recognize that they saw her do an interview, because she came onto their network. Even Trump fans will know that she was courageous to come onto FOX and take a tough interview. Bret Baier went after her, as expected from FOX News interviewing a Democratic candidate, and she stayed poised and comfortable, in control of the interview the entire time. Baier was flailing and desperate to land some blow against her, he completely failed and it was obvious.

Bret Baier was on the back foot the entire interview, rudely trying to talk over her and trying not to let her answer any of his questions or point out anything negative about Trump. He even half apologizes to her at one point for talking over her. By the end she has Bret Baier nodding in agreement with her. Harris completely crushed it in this interview and even some of the Trump fanbois saw it.

I wouldn't call that brave either ^^ Looks almost like he did it himself.

Is there a poll of Fox viewers on this? Because I am unsure if you are being tongue-in-cheek or not. The target group was indeed those ultra conservative or fellow travelers, same as with the Cheney endorsement.

What do you mean by "Fox viewers"? I think I get what you are trying to say, but it does not make much sense, at least not in the way I think you mean it. Let me explain.

When you say "Fox viewers"... I watched the interview, so did @Ziggy Stardust , so did @Birdjaguar , and apparently, so did you. So in that sense, the four of us are "Fox viewers" for the purposes of the interview. You thought the interview went poorly for Harris, while Ziggy, BJ and I think it went very well for her. So that's 3 to 1 polling favorably for Harris.

Now if by "Fox viewers" what you really mean is "Trump supporters", and or "Democratic party opponents", like you for example... do you see how that question doesn't really matter? If you're really posing the question of how many die-hard Trump supporters and/or Harris-haters were persuaded to change their position by this interview... that's not really a meaningful or useful question. Of course Trump fans are not changing their minds no matter what. Of course folks who hate Kamala Harris for whatever reason are not changing their minds, no matter what. They weren't the target audience of the Harris campaign in sitting for this interview. You weren't the target audience, even putting aside the obvious fact that you aren't in the US/can't vote in the US election... and so on.
The target group was indeed those ultra conservative or fellow travelers, same as with the Cheney endorsement.
No. That's completely wrong. You're looking at it the wrong way. Like I said, you (and your "fellow travelers") are not the target audience. The "target audience" was/is undecided voters, and moderate conservative voters, particularly and especially women, who really don't want to vote for Trump, but feel like they don't know much about Harris (because all they watch for news is FOX News).

This was her chance to show those voters her courage and introduce herself to them on familiar ground. Brett Baier fell right into the trap by trying to bully her and talk over her and be rude to her, because those women watching that will possibly be turned off by that... and Baier even clearly realized his mistake mid-interview, and tried to clean it up by apologizing, because he knew that talking over her and refusing to let her even answer a question just played right into what turns voters off towards Trump, especially women voters.

The other "target audience" was voters who are more inclined towards the Democratic party candidate, but who can't be bothered to vote, or feel unmotivated to do so, along with her likely voters, like me. She was trying to have a hero moment, where she went into the proverbial "lion's den" (or fox's den as you put it) and took on the Republican host... something Trump is afraid to do. She is trying to inspire her potential voters by showing her tenacity by taking on FOX News and Trump and in that she succeeded. She gave us (her supporters) something really good to praise her about.

Harris should just have called Baier "Nasty", and also call for Foxnews to lose it's license, and she'd be on par with Trump.

Brett made a huge mistake by interrupting Harris repeatedly. Women hate men who interrupt them or try to "mansplain" something. It may not make much of a difference to Fox viewers, but undecided women might view this and turn away from Donald the clown.

Harris did well in the interview, and hopefully she will bring this up in campaign speeches, pointing out how Benedict Donald is ducking interviews left, right, and center.

Tbf Hiding from interviews is likely Trumps only option now. His most recent town hall he short circuited for like 40 min. For all the bluster about Biden supposedly having dementia that's mostly normal old age things Trump just had a tell tale moment of it. It's what my Grandmother used to to earlier in her diagnosis, lose her place entirely. Harris absolutely should hammer on this point though.

Listen to the question.
Listen to the "answer".
Look at the face of the person asking the question ... "day of love"
the audience is pretty classic "WTH is he talking about". LOL he keeps running against Biden.

6 minutes of rambling, grievance, lying and complaining about the 2020 election, without answering the question or saying anything substantive, as usual.

I'm not sure that helped Trump with Hispanics. "Climate change is not important but Kamala Harris will get us into nuclear war!"

I think it may help her even with people who don't watch the interview. Just hearing that she was willing to go on Fox may make a favorable impression since for years now, neither side has bothered engaging the other side by agreeing to an interview by the hostile network. It's the opposite of Hillary's "deplorables" comment. It signals that you want to be president for all Americans. It signals that you have the courage of your own convictions. It showed that she can hold her own in an unfriendly environment (women have to prove that they're tough; men enjoy the assumption that they are). In correcting Baier, she got to say things that right-siloed people might not previously even have heard about Trump. It's unlikely, in itself, to have actually won her a vote, but neither will it have lost her one, and it may add in an incremental way to people's positive impressions of her.

She can, for rest of the campaign call Trump a coward, both for dodging a second debate with her and for not being willing to submit himself to such hostile questioning.

Edit: Remorseless made some of the same points while I was typing.
