Which ones?

Oh and Trump's only going on Rogan because a rumor went around that Harris was thinking of it.

The way he jumps to her every head nod, you'd think she was Putin.

I think those people will in the mean time have decided whether they mean to vote for Harris or not.

At this stage not without costing her more voters: the ones who she courted by adopting the position and messaging that she did and any who would be put off by her waffling on a significant issue.

For sure she shouldn't make any new last-minute appeal without an new poll showing the same kind of preference. (and even then probably not)

Mostly, there's no one new to persuade at this stage. Just maintain a general feeling of excitement so that people do bother to get out and vote.

And this would be the same on any subject? There was talk not too long ago about courting Republican moderates, and how that was valid strategy (or maybe I'm mixing my forums up). I'm trying to understand where the cut-off is and when.

Mainly for future reference, given a) how close we are and b) how unlikely I find it personally to expect Harris to make change in this regard.

If so, the point should be to make them move instead of Democrats moving closer to Republican positions. The pernicious effects of such issues are amply demonstrated by New Labour's sterility in Britain.

There's not much chance of that within this timeframe.

A: Harris is not a particularly good saleswoman. She'd make a good president, though. Getting elected, making cases to the public, she's not an all timer in these things, candidly.

B: Dems do not really know what their own positions are. This is a consequence of having a more varied coalition. I personally think their various wings don't actually want the same things. I doubt they even see the world through roughly equivalent moral frameworks. Big change on Gaza policy would, as Gori says, upset some, and more critically in this moment, make Harris look pretty... lightweight, in addition to forming a rather gossipy rift with Biden. It's a bad news cycle at the worst possible time.

It's also only 1/3rd. Mean 2/3rds are opposed or indifferent.

Yeah, I think my view is that she shouldn't change her position on any major issue at this point.

The people you think you'd be courting wouldn't trust you: "why is she suddenly saying this, when all along she's been saying that?" and others would say "does she even know where she stands on this major issue? I can't vote for a flip-flopper." Lose-lose.

So courting Republicans falls under something she was already doing (or at least, not outright repudiating them). It's also less of a policy issue. That tracks.

She thinks she might have an appeal to some center-right Republicans despite the fact that they disagree with her on policy.

Or, more precisely, who only agree with her "we should keep operating as a democracy" policy.

1. Is it true the McDonald's thing was staged and the whole place was actually shut down w/ fake customers being served, while the food was actually cooked by staff?

2. Is it true that McDonalds confirmed that the Kamala thing is actually a lie and that she actually worked there?

Thx from someone who doesn't really follow American politics as much as that is possible

It was staged to some extent. It was apparently closed. Idk about point 2.

Harris should spend her time talking about how Trump is always lying about everything and refuses to talk where he gets fact checked. Plus he is a criminal and unfit for office.

Yes to 1.

As to 2, most McD's are franchises, so it would have had to be that franchise owner who kept her records for 40 years. I'm her age. My HS job was at a grocery store. I have no idea how I would prove that to anyone who was skeptical.

And as to the cartoon Sommer passed along: Trump wasn't on the job long enough for a background check to be returned.

One summer (maybe 1966?) I drive a Good Humor Truck selling ice cream to kids. No way I could prove that to anyone. It is not on my resume.

I couldn't prove what job I had 12 years ago. All the people who could prove it are dead. And yet still I got a US government job.
