The Narz vote is powerful.

My reason for thinking what I think is Dobbs. You can decide whether that is a good reason or not. I think polling is not getting at this. I think early voting is starting to suggest the scope of it.

Even if Florida doesn't altogether flip, but is just way closer than Trump's +4 in 2020, that will let networks know how PA and WI and MI are going to go.

The MAGAs are getting weirder and weirder. At one rally, at the prompting of Tucker Carlson, they were calling Trump Daddy and wishing for him to treat them like a bad girl in need of a spanking.

There are people who think that's his way of getting ahead of a bombshell video that's about to drop.

There's some possibility that there is a bombshell video of Trump about to drop. People all over the right are urging their readers that if any alarming video comes to light, it's just AI, ignore it. So many are saying the same thing that there is speculation that there really must be such a video.

If it showed Trump spanking a minor, the reasoning goes, Tucker was trying to soften the blow of the video by already having treated its content as a metaphor.

There's enough noise, that I suspect some unfavorable video is about to drop. If so, Trump's supporter will of course ignore it/explain it away as they always do.

Probably not spanking a minor; there I think the speculation is going off the rails.

And even if there's something utterly terrible, there's a decent chance it doesn't move the polls.

I have not yet casted by vote. Though it’s still hard to stop thinking that my vote for Harris is just to prove my former friend wrong.

there's the real issue that trump being talked about, even in a negative light, focuses the attention on him. a lot of the energy the democrats got over the summer has disappated, and there's not as much focus on them as the conversation. even as negative press, it's still exposure, and for a lot of people, it just pulls their votes.

i guess the timing (even if mostly unplanned) was just a few weeks off. we'll see what happens during the election, but honestly, it's frustrating to watch.

edit: also in case this looks weird idk this post is not for anyone in particular in this thread. i've just been watching the polls and cringed quite a bit.

At this point, Gen Marshall, just make it a simple choice of which of the two of them you think would do a better job in the role. Put aside extraneous considerations.

There is zero chance that Trump loses votes because of any video, no matter what it shows. Trump could be caught on video dancing in a circle around a minor, hand in hand with Puffy Combs, Jeff Epstein, R. Kelly and Heidi Fleiss, doing fill-in-the-blank horrors and he would not lose one single voter. Not even one. Trump's voters have a whole suite of mental defenses to any negative information about him ranging from "its fake/lies/AI etc.", to "it doesn't matter because, (various forms of whataboutism / tu-quoque, etc.)", to "I just don't gaf, he's my guy, period" and so on.

You've got General Kelly, who was Trump's Chief of staff for two years, stating explicitly that Trump admires Hitler and aspires to be a dictator, based on his first hand knowledge, working with/for Trump... essentially echoing (ironically) J.D. Vance's admonition that Trump is "America's Hitler"... and at best, it has no effect... arguably, Trump goes up in the polls as a result. There is nothing... NOTHING, that would induce folks who are on Trump's side to change their minds and not vote for him... NOTHING.

Its going to take until the weekend likely to resolve the winner of the election. Our "election day" is Tuesday, November 5. Hopefully we will have a winner announced by Saturday, November 9. Then there will be months of disputes, recounts and appeals.

Got it, will make a point to check the news on Saturday.. Any idea why it takes so long to count? I have no idea how they do it so fast here in Canada, we're usually incompetent too.

Got it, will make a point to check the news on Saturday.. Any idea why it takes so long to count? I have no idea how they do it so fast here in Canada, we're usually incompetent too.

Generally we'll start hearing media calling specific states for either Trump or Kamala overnight based on time zones and based on votes for areas.

Trump will likely pull ahead first since he does better in rural areas and the South, while Kamala will likely pull ahead as urban, early votes, and absentee ballots start coming in and counted.

Full confirmation will only happen by Friday.

I'm really curious what the difference is between how we do it in Canada. Obviously there's 10x people in the U.S., but it seems there'd be 10x more people counting as well. Here you vote during the day, the results start coming in in the evening, and by 1-3am EST the winner is usually clear. Sometimes you have to wait until the next morning. From what I remember, if any other Canadians are reading this and I'm misremembering, do correct me.
