Anyone chosen as Vice President has "merit," and specifically whatever merit is needed to be president, since standing ready to do that is pretty much the sole job of the person in the position.

She was DA and senator for our most populous state. Any senator is one of our country's 100 most meritorious people.
Lack of merit in the sense that Kamala Harris did in fact run for president in 2020 yet dropped out before any primary votes were cast (late 2019 iirc), meaning no one substantial wanted her, except when Joe Biden finally did on [admittedly] a whim.
And nor do I consider her being next in line for the president as a qualifier for her having thus "earned" it, or "this is what Joe Biden would've wanted", or your own self-serving "she wouldn't be Vice President if she wasn't skilled", or blah blah.
That is what I'm talking about when I mean merit; not qualifications.
Of course, that is the way the system works, but I don't have to like it...

What merit did Trump have?
I wouldn't know; I don't like him anyway. Why are you asking?

So you think her qualified to be the nominee? And qualified to serve as president should she be elected?

If so, then what the hell would "merit" have to do with anything? What is merit and who does have it?

All she has to do is merit the Presidency, in the eyes of voters, more than her rival does.

Which she clearly does.

(Nobody chooses a VP on a "whim," by the way.)

Is the woke is the room with us right now?
I’d ask the same thing surrounding the whole fear mongering around Project 2025.

Of course I’ve expected to see bad faith argumentations just to “pwn the chuds” instead of engaging with my skepticism of Harris’s policies in good faith and a chance to change my mind and put my anxieties of an “authoritarian progressive” regime to rest.

She was literally a prosecutor for god's sake.
This is what amuses me since, I recall, leftists and progs hated her with a furry of a thousand suns when they were in their ACAB defund the police moment back in 2020. Only now (or I suspect some are holding their noses cause she’s a neolib or something) for them to flock to her.

Acting like the two are comparable is kinda hilarious.

One is a conservative buzzword for anything remotely progressive. The other is a conservative project to enact policy.

I mean, I guess theyre both conservative? Staunchly right-wing, even.

The alternative is worse. I thought the problem with leftists was purity tests and an inability to compromise?

Y'all got to stick to a single stereotype. Less chance of contradictions that way.

What policies are meaningful to you, Gen Marshall? I will try to engage you in good faith..

I suspect she won't tinker too much, if at all, with the Democratic Party platform:

So if you tell me what is meaningful to you, I will scour it and the RNC platform and tell you why I think her policies will be better.

It's an actually thing, not a buzzword.

Then don't use nonsense buzzwords if you want to be taken seriously.

Yes, it's called strategic voting.

Harris did not attend Netanyahu's speech today, instead speaking to a sorority. She'd have sat behind Netanyahu, with all eyes on her reactions to some of his more provocative statements, and would've been expected to take questions on it.

I'm not entirely sure I'd say she ducked it, but it is awfully convenient. This issue can be exploited to divisive effect, given rifts in opinion on the left but a more solid consensus on the right.

It'd have been smart to duck it if she indeed did. She should want this honeymoon phase to last as long as possible. Put off the first negative news cycle.

Eventually, she will need to tackle it, though. I doubt the Trump campaign is smart enough to directly press her to do that, but eventually, intrepid reporters will, just for the story.

I'm watching a Trump rally. His former head of Border Patrol is in the audience. He calls him up to speak for a bit. He says that under Trump, there were zero known terrorists who had crossed the border, but that under Biden, that number is up 100%.

Oh, and it's all KaMALa.

He's going to take the White House back from KaMALa.

I’m sure a lot of people here want Kamala Harris to win, but whether she will or won’t, I don’t know how to make such a prediction without it being influenced by my own biases.

I voted “too early to tell” because I would speculate (keyword there) that Harris’ appeal in part at the moment comes from the fresh face in the race combined with the unknown quantity of her positions.

If I were a reporter going to stump Harris, my question would be: “President Biden said it is a time to pass the torch to new faces and new ideas. What new ideas do you have, and are they different from President Biden’s?”

What is the correct pronunciation of her name? I've heard at least a couple of different ways.

Oh, and apparently Trump dismissed her as someone who would only get votes from "childless cat ladies"?

Well, social media is taking that back, and producing some rather nifty images:

I think it’s like “come all uh.”

No meaning behind my choice of words to phoneticize it, just trying to make it universally and easily understandable.

What merit did Trump have?
Come to think about it, they both offer a similar appeal, a chance for voters to demonstrate their power,

by voting Trump over Clinton voters could upset the establishment and defeat the candidate that acted as if she had already won the election.

Harris offers a similar chance to stick up the Trump voters who, let’s be honest, think the election is already in the bag.

Just imagine how angry Trump will be when he loses another election, from a woman no less, it will be spectacular 😊

I’d ask the same thing surrounding the whole fear mongering around Project 2025.

Do you actually know what's in Project 25, or are you just assuming that people are overreacting because of some "anti-woke" bias?

So, why did Donald Trump select a neckbeard with the charisma of a potato as his VP nominee? Lowest rated VP nominee in decades.

Is it because JD Vance has been carried from job to job (where he didn't do much actual work according to his former co-workers) by benefactor and Billionaire Peter Thiel - and Trump wants Thiel's money for himself?

https://www.newsweek.com/jd-vance-l... is the first,1980, according to poll numbers.
