His flipping from never-Trumper to sycophant had admirably demonstrated that he has no principles, and will do as instructed by the Donald, at least as long as he's in charge. So, why did Donald Trump select a neckbeard with the charisma of a potato as his VP nominee? Lowest rated VP nominee in decades.
Is it because JD Vance has been carried from job to job (where he didn't do much actual work according to his former co-workers) by benefactor and Billionaire Peter Thiel - and Trump wants Thiel's money for himself?

I saw it suggested that Vance was picked because he plays well to the MAGA base and of course that's seemingly all Trump cares about.
That would be IF Trump played politics like a normal US politician. But he's like Berlusconi and other populists – his non-politicianness is part of the attraction. He really is like Berlusconi like that. The Italians who loved "il cavaliere" whatever he bunga-bungad together did so largely on the assumption that he was a businessman who would make "smart deals" for Italy. It's part of why the loyals of Orban in Hungary are loyal to him – they see him troll the EU, and seemingly play both Russia and China, and supposedly this is all good for Hungary. But Trump himself appeals to that exact segment, right?
Isn't the idea behind your pick as VP nominee, to attract a voter base that the presidential nominee doesn't appeal to? Shouldn't the VP nominee appeal to centrist and swing voters?

On a podcast this morning, a reporter said he asked some Republican wonks who they'd least like to see Harris name as her running-mate, and they said Shapiro.Historically I would've agreed VP picks are indeed inconsequential. But not for a while now.
Since JD Vance was such a suck-up pick who appeals to no one in the middle, Harris would be wise to choose a VP who is a popular Democratic politician and also from a swing state.
And that person is...Josh Shapiro.
You heard it here first.
Merit also has to do with the integrity of the process. So you think her qualified to be the nominee? And qualified to serve as president should she be elected?
If so, then what the hell would "merit" have to do with anything? What is merit and who does have it?
All she has to do is merit the Presidency, in the eyes of voters, more than her rival does.
Which she clearly does.
(Nobody chooses a VP on a "whim," by the way.)
He still got the first protections, like at all, for gay people through the Indiana legislature and you need to start somewhere.Even if most of the rest of Pence's morals were twisted
Most people can be in a room with people from the opposite sex without cheating on their partner. That fact he did not so trust himself says something about him.The thing everyone was always so pissed at him for was that he took preventative care to not be caught in situations where it was easy to become corrupt, or succumb to infidelity. A trait extremely sorely needed in our public officials. So they don't do things like pressure employees into blowjobs, or take bribes, or betray the Republic. But oh no, it was all "he's a male chauvinist." So stupid. So stupid.
