English Exploitation ~ Regent

Ooh. Nice luck with those goody huts. ;)
Shame about the jungle in south though. :( Guess that ivory will compensate that, I haven't started near ivory on C3C yet so I'm eager to finally see Zeus in action.

Apparently Wizard is away until tomorrow at least. Shall we let this slide until he comes back, or does anyone else want to pick it up?

I'm comfortable waiting for him.

And here I am. :D

The turnlog looks nice, but I would've built a few scouts first instead of those warriors.

So, if it's my turn, this is a got it. I'll play later today...

Remember that the English's new traits are Seafaring and Commercial. ;)

Preturn: Check to see where we are going. Looks good. I forget how many turns I should play, I'll stick to the nice round number of 10. :) Move Curragh west & then south.

3200BC [1]: I look at London, realise it's building another Curragh.

3150BC [2]: Warrior finds a goody hut. let's see what's inside...

3100BC [3]: We get a warrior from the hut. :)

3050BC [4]: Curragh sees a red obrder in the far south.

IBT: London Curragh > settler.

3000BC [5]: We meet the Romans, they have Bronze and Warrior Code, they'd want Pot + Burial for WC, I disagree.

2950BC [6]:

2900BC [7]:

2850BC [8]: Warriors roam around, Curraghs explore coastlines.

2800BC [9]:

2750BC [10]: I see an Iroquois settler in the even more far south.

We are gonna get Bronze in 1 turn, so I take the sci rate down to 10%, and it's still in 1.

Too lazy to upload the save, so here ya go, a real cool attachment: :p:D

I've "got it" but I probably won't be able to get around to playing/posting until later today/tonight. :king:

*edit* I'll probably read this thread again before I play, so I'll just briefly say what I think I'll do, then any criticising is welcome.

After bronze working is done, I'll start masonry (we want an early mathematics for zues right?) at 100% sci. I'm not sure where we're looking to settle - any ideas?

One of our cities is going to be busy building Zeus for a good while, so we need to think about that.

Ack! Not much room to expand in north and Legionaries are waiting for us in south. Though when we build Zeus, Caesar shouldn't be able to stop us that easily.

As for the next city, we should check what's directly to the east from London and then decide whether to expand north or east. I'm sure Caesar would beat us to the spices in south.

Pre-Turn: Just looking around, everything looks nice and dandy. Hit enter.

(1)Iroquois find Niagra Falls. Bronze Working has been researched, I switch to Masonry, yet can't research at 100% without a -2gpt because of our military. Reasearching at 70% with 24turns until it's arrival. Hiawatha and Caesar already have bronze working. Move units... hit enter

(2)Mine finishes, start on road. More exploring..

(3)Settler finishes, London -> Warrior. Wow our land is not promising..

(4)Zzzzz:sleep:

(5)London Warrior -> Settler. Start road on BG. <enter>

(6)I need to get this settler placed... settle on hill next to river. York -> Warrior. Slide up sci bar to %100, masonry due in 9.<enter>

(7)I decide to start roading to York. <enter>

(8)Green borders spotted on bottom right of map. Can't see any of them, or name.

(9)Zzzzz:sleep:

(10)Zzzzz:sleep:

Sorry if anyone disagrees with me on settlement spot, we were/are falling behind in expansion I believe so I got him down fast.

I believe it's Smellincoffee's turn.

Right, got it.

One of the odder advisors the Queen had was Smellincoffee, whose personality quirks were poked fun at by most of the others. Smellincoffee's first time as high advisor to the queen is memorable.

In 2270, he took the oath of office, and immediately departed for other lands, as to assess the diplomatic situation. He returned to the queen, addressing her politely, and told her his concerns. "The Romans have some fanstastic weapon that propels a pointy stick a long distance. They said they would trade this for our knowledge of burial rites. The people led by

Hiwatha are in the same situation. The blessed Aztecs are lead by a glorious leader whose name is Montezuma. He also knows of this weapon, not to mention he has this thing called "the Wheel". He does not have a written alphabet. Most troubling, they don't even bury their ancestors. I proposed a deal with them, and they accepted."

------------------------------
Trade Alphabet to the Aztecs for Warrior Code, ten gold, and a worker. We still maintain our monoply on Ceremonial Burial.

2230: York worker done. Fortifies. Worker in London done roading. He and the slave start working ona mine. Rename exploring worker near Roman turf to "Cabot". Rename conscript
warrior exploring coast into Dr. Livingstone. Rename curraghs into the Jolly Roger and Prince of Wales.

2190: Archery contest; no clear winner, as no one knows how to fire the things correctly yet.

2150: Dissent over Smellincoffee's reign sees some settlers leaving London.

2110: Dr. Livingstone is ambushed by Illyurians. The brave doctor smashes them upside the head with a cuneaform tablet and wins the day. Cabot stumbles upon some Iberians who
lament the cruelties of Caesar. They trade maps with us. hoping we will someday kill off the Romans with some sort of horse that requires ivory.

2030: Burgundians send us troops.

1990: Our people celebrate the last decade of the millienum.

1950: That Burgundian fellow is killed by barbarians. I feel a French joke coming on.

1910: We notice some elephants near Rome.
Found Nottingham on the sea. The Romans are uppity-- they discovered how to turn bronze into some silverish metal. Big deal. Rocks are silver, too. Our advisors think it's valuable,

though.

1870: We inform our people that they need new calanders.

1790: We inform our navy to update their maps. The Prince of Wales apparantly sunk following theirs. Apparently the seafaring people of London didn't like that; they run

Smellincoffee out of the town. Another advisor- who was seen giving money to several of the rioters- assumes the throne.
