Jopa, whats the ETA? Can we expect the update tonight?
Is this NES dying? Are you losing interest?
 
Also, I am having serious problems with the map terrain for EkoNES, does anyone have any tips on how to do it and make it look good? I'm using the spray and blend tools on GIMP atm which works well for marsh/desert terrain but how on earth can I do hills, mountains and forests? Jopa has unfortunately set an excellent standard (by most unscrupulous means :p) and my map has to be at least half as good :).
 
No, I'm alive and well, and eager to update :) BUT next week, out of 6 subjects that I have this semester, I have 5 exams. :( I'm really sorry but at least you know what is the reason behind. And I actually worked on the update yesterday, did all stats, worked out map and all, tossed dies, and all that remains is to WRITE the update in character, which actually takes quite a bit of time. I did some stories, and few still remain, and you probably guess what events are coming up ;)

It is common, in NESing, that players miss orders for week or two due to exams. And updating takes more effort. With excuses on my part, it is possible that update comes along tonight.

Unfortuately no, not really. I have a map, its the terrain I need doing. I would never be able to get the feel for a map not created by myself, there owuld always be something I didn't like about it...

I guess you could find PS/GIMP tutorials online, for elevation it's that 'strokes' from top to the bottom that are important, and then coloring them...

If you look on the later post, you will see that he dessribes how to make realistic maps with this programme.
 
Also, I appreciate when players immediately write their entire balance of income/expenses and say like -50 gold for building x, discounted by Slavery and 2 mines. .It saves me much time. :D
 
Once your exams are over you could, if you are interested, post sample orders that we could use as a template (most NESes should do this).

I really hope you finish updating tonight so that you can study for your exams while we do diplomacy and then work on another update over christmas (when and if you have time). Otherwise i fear this won't get updated until after your exams (which is sensible but certainly not what i would like to see).

Also: i am glad to hear that you are not losing interest.
 
If only I had any idea how much gold I have, I would gladly put all computations in every post, but I seem to always have different figures. I also don't know when the income is added (start or end of update).
 
OOC: Any hope for an update before the end of the week? I'll be off two weeks starting Friday evening and will have little or no internet access during that period.
 
And I will be revising for yet more exams, although I still should be able to come online for diplomacy/orders every so often. How much progress have you had on the update? 50%? 60%?
 
Poor me does not have time to try the new version :cry

There IS hope to update before the end of the week, but not a guarantee :( After this update we are back to normal temp and all.
 
Heh I won't be able to play Ice until after January at least. I always find that if I sit down and play FFH for a while I always end up on it for hours and suddenly all my revision time has disappeared.
 
Ok I seem to have made a massive breakthrough with GIMP, having abandoned the blur tool and taken up the airbrush and clone tools instead. I now have a rather sexy forest on the home map for EkoNES and I think I can use the same technique for desert, marsh and plains. Still not sure how to do mountains though...
