[Feature] Late game content and building changes

Great news! I can create a Mars Base screen on a red pedia environment without changing the pedia.

I found out that the pedia background is a nif file. In a previous attempt I copied the nif and dds files and made the path for the Mars Base link to the copied files. That way I could change the dds files of the copied files, and therefor the color of Mars, without changing the pedia, because that is hardcoded to use the files in the original location.

Unfortunately, I got the infamous red blob. I thought it was cause by some hardcoded stuff I didn’t understand, so I gave up that idea. But today, I tried the same thing again and it worked! I guess I made an error in the path of the Mars Base background at my first attempt, even my double and triple checking.

A nice side effect is that I do not have to add any fake building in the screen or whatever.

One other nice thing of this, I should also be able to import the space background of Final Frontier. That means we can have the Hubble Space Telescope with a space background in the pedia. (And probably some other things as well which I didn’t think of)

Hey, that sounds great!

New update:
- removed existing spaceship project parts
- added Mars Framing (Supermaterials): requires up to five
- added Mars Power Source (Fusian): requires up to two
- added Mars Extractor (Nanotechnology): requires one
- added Mars Habitat (Automation): requires up to five
- added Mars Hydroponics (Biotechnology): requires up to three
- added Mars Laboratory (Unified Theory): requires three
- added Mars Control Center (Artificial Intelligence): requires one
- adjusted the victory screen to recent changes
- removed the spaceship screen and moved the launch button to the victory screen
- increased overall spaceship part costs to offset the greater availability of space production modifiers

Map?

That is clearly stated in the first post of this thread. If that branch isn't appearing for you, you have to do a fetch first.

I really don't know how to make that even more apparent than it is right now.

Launching the spaceship now launches the only the framework. This is because the components aren't build anymore and therefor are not added to the model of the spaceship. I can modify the old spacehip screen in which you can design the spaceship just like you could do previously. Only now can do it for free and do not need to build the components first. If you do not want to bother with the design of the spaceship a default model will be created.

It seems a bit weird that you can only launch your spaceship only after you build the components of the Mars base. (How can the components be already on Mars in the base viewer screen if the spaceship bringing them to it has not been launched yet) I think it would make more sense if the launch would be automatically triggered when you build the Mission to Mars project. To trigger the space victory, a new build like "make self sufficient" could be added.

Yeah sure, I envisioned the launch as basically the last supply delivery from Earth before self sufficiency. But I don't really want an extra screen to design a space ship. Why not let the space ship start with all parts?

I'm fine with the spaceship starting with all parts. The reason I suggested it is because screen is already there. (I just reuse the spaceship screen) One could simply ignore it if you don't want to design your spaceship. (A default spaceship with all parts would be created in that case)

Dumb question from a non-modder: Couldn't a ship launch with every component? It wouldn't need to be the focus of the screen or anything, more a fanciful animation.

Yes, that's what I meant. We're not really talking about the spaceship screen but the launch animation from your capital. I don't really want to have an extra screen for the spaceship because it just takes away attention from the colony.

Your condescension is much appreciated.
It's not condescension, just frustration. Why do I even write these opening posts.

So that way we can have a conversation about making the map of Europe big enough to make a playable Luxembourg civ and point out that you didn't make it clear in your opening post!

Also, now I can't stop thinking that maybe this game needs a late game event about this mod. it requires the late game event about civ being made.

New update:
- Biology enables Farms without irrigation
- new Internet effect: available to all players, +1 commerce for all specialists
- added Human Genome Project (requires Genetics): +1 food from Town (replaces Biotechnology effect)
- added Solar Collector improvement (requires Renewable Energy, Desert): +3 commerce, +1 food on coastal tiles
- new art for the Solar Plant building
- Arena does not obsolete anymore
- changed Stadium: reduced cost, requires Arena, +1 happiness, +1 happiness with Hit Football Events, +25% culture with power

I'm mostly out of things to do now, besides polishing, reacting to feedback and adding some AI to cover the new content.

The code adds additional commerce to Towns it seems.

True, I'll push a fix.

New update:
- merged a pull request by merijn_v1: display Hubble Telescope with space background, various fixes related to space projects
- fixed the 1700 AD scenario
