First Civ 7 developer livestream happening September 12!

Will the modding still resemble the style of modding in Civ5 / Civ6 or alternate tools are prepared?

Hi Sar, Since you are collecting questions from the devs, I have two questions:

- Will there be buildings/wonders/improvements that can only be placed on top of mountain tiles?

- Will there be improvments for coast tiles without resources?

(something like an observatory building that would be placed on top of a mountain to generate a district there. Or even some wonders like Machu Picchu, Neuschwanstein Castle, Copernicus Observatory, Potala Palace... some wonders that could perhaps be placed on mountain tiles. Or even improvements like the sky resort from CIV6. My concern with this is due to the fact that in previous CIV games, some tiles like mountains (or coasts/deserts without resources) were practically lost tiles on the city screen, because you couldn't do anything with that tile but it was there taking up the space of a tile that could be useful. So if there were at least wonders/buildings/improvements the player wouldn't have this feeling of a lost tile.)

(My concern is similar to what happens with the mountain tiles in this second question. Because since there will be no micromanagement of the population to work on the tiles, and only the tiles that have a district (whether rural or urban) are "worked" then If a coastal city has a lot of coast tiles, after the city builds the district with the buildings Harbor+lighthouse & (hypetetical, ferris wheel+aquarium (based on the CIV6 amusement district)) and some coastal wonders like the great lighthouse, colossus, and Sydney Opera House... will the remaining coast tiles in that city become useless? I say that if there won't be a similar effect to the versions of CIV6 before Governor Liang's Fishery improvment, where usually cities with a lot of coast tiles without resources were avoided because they were tiles that produced very little and could not be improved, but now in CIV7 this would have an even greater impact because only tiles with rural/urban districts produce. So I would like to hear the Devs comment on these issues.)

That's the most personality I've seen from a Civ7 leader, and it's my bête noire Napoleon. That gives me hope.

Will there also be looks at civilizations, or will those mostly be posted to the Firaxis blog like we've seen with Egypt, Maya, Aksum, Maurya, and Cree?
We'll be deep-diving into Civs with the Game Guides on the website - exactly! I'll be updating you all more frequently when these get posted - I love seeing the threads and discussions that pop up after these go live 😄

Awesome, thanks!

Question for the developers:

In Civ VI, unique Great Works were a wonderful way to include beautiful pieces of art, literature, and music from throughout history, and unique Great People always had an interesting translation of their historical contributions into gameplay mechanics.

Will unique Great People and Great Works be returning in Civ VII?

Thank you kindly!

Hello Faraxis, I'm very glad for the CEST friendly time slot!

I would like to put forward some questions:

Have you considered re-introducing vassalisation again?

Will it be possible to create different international gouvernements or will we be coerced into one all mighty world governement once more? Or perhaps simply refuse to join it?

Thank you and have a nice day :)

Hi @FXS_Sar - my question is whether players will have the ability to zoom into the map to the level shown in the marketing screenshots and videos. The visuals look amazing so far, and I think it would be a lot of fun to "tour" your civilization through the ages.
You can't zoom in quite to the same level as some of the trailer shots -- but I have logged this as feedback (I also think that would be fun)!
