Yes, moderate success. And some free information as well: It seems that WPC and UCiv are conspiring together. Lucky for us, they seem to be conspiring against RB. Something to keep in mind after this RB business is over, though.

Couple of things we may want to point out at some point:

1. We cannot gift any units once they are in war. If they need support from us (and if we can afford it), we have to gift the units before the war actually breaks out.
2. Working around agreements is not how we work with our friends.
3. If Yuufo or UCiv in general is concerned about that they have do the "dirty" work, you could share a short story about recently occupied ex-german cities and couple of chariots pillaging cottages

Yuufo doesn't sound too keen on razing the RB city, but who knows what UCiv will decide to do. I've got my fingers crossed, as that would be a devastating blow to RB.

I am actually pretty hopeful... I think they will do it.

However... I am concerned about attacking CivFr's stack in the west. I have a feeling that because of the shared language, UCiv and CivFr are close. If we engage in open all-out War with CivFr we may lose UCiv.

Maybe we should just leave CivFr alone so we can get the Starfall spot instead.

These guys look decent bunch to me. See they refused to take money for teching Engineering? Just as they did not exploited our desperate attempts for bribing them when we were attacked by the Spaniards. Or maybe they just dont want to feel obliged to us, or feel obliged to raze Eastern Dealers too?

I re-read the chat and the part where I say I do important things myself is more to give him sense of the importance we put in this business proposal, not that I would not enjoy to be spared the forth and backs of diplomacy

Are you playing in a coalition? with whom? what is your goal, ultimate annihilation of RB?
What can we expect to gain for our civ? if you and CFC share RB's land, can we get WPC's land?

Just a thought, should we have one of our French-speakers chat with Yuufo? Might make them feel a little more comfortable cooperating with us if Yuufo can chat in his native language and more-easily share the chats with his team.

Oh funny, I hadn't even noticed that. I think it's because those cities finished their builds at the end of last turn, and we haven't logged in yet to set the new builds.

As for our goals I think we must tell them that we are not aiming for the destruction of RB, as it is hardly possible, but to bring them down a level or two.

Yeah, the whole message feels a little fishy. I think we should be somewhat guarded in our response, but at the same time, if they're feeding info to RB, then our last message already blows our cover out of the water.

- Yes, we are trying to build a coalition
- We hope that it will include you
- The ultimate goal is to cooperate in slowing down RB, so other teams can compete. We do not think ultimate annihilation is possible at this point

- Land concessions primarily. We will give you part of the land we won from the Spaniards
- Benefits of further cooperation secondarily. We can discuss ways of cooperation that will benefit your team

I would prefer not to switch the diplomat so quickly after this proposal, it might make them feel suspicious. They've already shown that they are both willing to and used to conducting diplomacy in English. Bringing in some guy with choppy French (talking about myself here ) just to try and make them fell more comfortable probably won't go over too well.

Seems that they are more concerned about someone else gaining too much land in their neighbourhood. But it is sensible to hope to win some land if they go to war. Since RB land is too far and behind other teams, why not ask dibs for relatively cheap land in their immediate vicinity.

CP, I guess as you said that Ot4e has told UCiv that they are planning to attack RB. Civ Players, Civ Fanatics, what's the difference? Of course there is a more hilarious possibility that either Poly or CP is trying to court UCiv at the same time and Yuufo mixed up the messages a bit

BTW, I am not too concerned about telling UCiv about our allegiances if they already know that CP is planning to attack RB. Even if they go back to RB with info (which I don't believe they will do) the most RB could gain from it is that Poly is also plotting against them. If we want to get UCiv go along with anti-RB plan, we'll need to be open and honest in our communications.
