'You Have No Balls': House Committee Descends Into Chaos As Hunter Biden Crashes Contempt Vote

The president's son unexpectedly showed up to a House Oversight Committee meeting that went completely off the rails.

WASHINGTON ― President Joe Biden’s son on Wednesday made a surprise appearance at a House Oversight Committee hearing where Republicans planned to approve a resolution holding him in contempt of Congress.
Hunter Biden’s arrival served as a reminder that he has offered to testify in response to Republicans’ subpoena for his testimony ― but only in public.

Republicans have insisted he speak in a private deposition and are holding him in contempt because of his refusal. If approved by the full House, the contempt resolution would result in a request for the Justice Department to press charges.
Biden’s brief appearance threw the committee meeting into early chaos, and even after he left the proceedings repeatedly broke down or went off topic as lawmakers interrupted each other, debated the meaning of “white privilege” and argued over the use of “revenge porn” in the hearing room.

Biden arrived as the committee’s top members made their opening statements and sat in the audience, behind the witness table, occasionally smirking as Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) mocked him and said he belonged in jail.
“Who bribed Hunter Biden to be here today?” Mace said. “You are the epitome of white privilege, coming to the Oversight Committee, spitting in our face, ignoring a congressional subpoena to be deposed — what are you afraid of?”

Before being interrupted, Mace told Biden, “You have no balls.”
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) noted that Biden’s appearance in the room seemed contrary to Mace’s statement. “He’s here. Doesn’t seem to be too afraid,” Moskowitz said. “The only folks that are afraid to hear from the witness, with the American people watching, are my friends on the other side of the aisle.”

But Biden got up and left as soon as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) started speaking. Last summer at a committee hearing, Greene displayed photos of Biden in the midst of sex acts with women who were apparent sex workers.
As he left, Greene and others shouted “aww” in mock sympathy. “Hunter Biden is terrified of strong conservative Republican women,” Greene said. “What a coward.”

In the hallway outside of the hearing room, Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, said Biden had previously made five offers to provide “relevant information” to the investigation. “Our first five offers were ignored, and then in November they issued a subpoena for a behind-closed-doors deposition, a tactic that the Republicans have repeatedly misused in their political crusade to selectively leak and mischaracterize what witnesses have said,” Lowell said, with Biden standing by his side.

The contempt hearing is an offshoot of the impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, whom Republicans have dubiously claimed participated in his son’s foreign business deals. But Wednesday’s proceedings were emblematic of the investigation into the president, which has failed to uncover incriminating evidence while repeatedly delving into seemingly irrelevant material, such as Hunter Biden’s second career as an artist and a pickup truck he bought with his father’s help in 2018. The main corruption allegation against the Bidens is that when he was vice president, Joe Biden benefited his son by urging Ukraine to fire a prosecutor when Hunter Biden served on the board of a Ukrainian company. State Department officials debunked the allegation in testimony over the course of 2019 and 2020; Republicans have ignored that testimony.

The major point of disagreement Wednesday was wether Biden deserved a contempt citation for refusing to show for a deposition despite his willingness to speak publicly. It’s an unprecedented situation. Democrats repeatedly noted that several Republicans on the committee ― Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Scott Perry (R-Pa.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) ― faced little consequences for blowing off subpoenas in 2022 from a House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Perry said the Jan. 6 committee “was nothing more than a Soviet show trial in America,” and that therefore Republicans could ignore its subpoenas. Later, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) took issue with Mace’s “white privilege” accusation against Biden.
“It was a spit in the face ― at least of mine as a Black woman ― for you to talk about white privilege looks like,” Crockett said, noting the “lack of diversity” among elected Republicans and their dubious claims of a two-tier justice system that persecutes conservatives.
Crockett added, “Let me tell you why nobody wants to talk to you behind closed doors ― because y’all lie.”

At one point, the hearing stopped for several minutes as the committee’s chairman, James Comer (R-Ky.), and its top Democrat, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), huddled with staff on the question of whether Greene could speak out of turn to address whether she had previously shown “revenge porn” of Hunter Biden. As they talked, Moskowitz held up a giant photo of Donald Trump with the infamous sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.

Greene promised that the poster she’d brought on Wednesday was “not pornography” but the committee moved on. Referring to the general disarray during his speaking time, Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) said, “This is the reason why we want to have a deposition.”
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

What on Earth.

The Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was in the hospital (intensive care) for 4 days, and nobody told President Biden.

The Secretary of Defense has been battling prostate cancer for a month without telling the President.

President Joe Biden was kept in the dark over his defense secretary's cancer diagnosis and subsequent hospitalizations for about a month, the White House admitted Tuesday, as details of Lloyd Austin's deeply unusual disappearance raised questions about leadership of the world's top military.

The Chief of Staff has now ordered all Cabinet Secretaries to report up the chain any issues with performing their duties or communicating.

“Agencies should ensure that delegations are issued when a Cabinet Member is traveling to areas with limited or no access to communication, undergoing hospitalization or a medical procedure requiring general anesthesia, or otherwise in a circumstance when he or she may be unreachable,” Zients’ memo states. It also requires that agencies document when any such transfer of authorities occurs and that the person serving in the acting role promptly establish contact with relevant White House staff.

Not exactly. Prostate cancer is a slow growing cancer that even when diagnosed does not call for immediate action. His situation recently developed to the point where he did need to take action and decided to have surgery rather than radiation treatment. The surgery went well but he developed a post operation infection that got nasty and forced a return to the hospital. Of course, that is no excuse for not letting folks know he was going under the robotic knife.

Yeah, that prostrate surgery is in fact often considered elective. Prostate cancer is sometimes not treated at all because it falls in the category of one of the things that probably won't get you before something else does. Speaking generally here-everyone is a distinct case of course.

The thing that is concerning to me is that it makes it look as if the defense establishment is not running everything past the White House. That was a concern of mine when Trump was in office.

And I see here a link to the documents issue. How can sensitive documents go missing without someone knowing? How can a defense secretary go missing without someone noticing? Makes me wonder if our strategic missiles are filled with water.

Was that really done robotically?

Al-Shabab captures UN helicopter in central Somalia

A helicopter belonging to the United Nations mission in Somalia has been captured by al-Shabab after it landed in territory held by the armed group.

Several passengers were reportedly seized in Galmudug state on Wednesday by the al-Qaeda-linked group which has wreaked violence in the Horn of Africa for years.

The helicopter landed close to Gadoon village in the Galgaduud region due to a technical glitch, an internal UN memo seen by Al Jazeera stated. A UN official in Mogadishu also confirmed the incident to Al Jazeera.

The aircraft encountered a defect shortly after taking off from Beledweyne city in central Somalia, Major Hassan Ali told the Reuters news agency.

Before being interrupted, Mace told Biden, “You have no balls.”
This was particularly ironic, because upon being interrupted (to request a point of order from the Chaiman) after her making the remark, she immediately complained "Is a woman even allowed to speak here?" essentially implying that it was sexist for him to interrupt her ... literally right after taunting a guy that wasn't even allowed to speak, that he had "no balls"... she might as well have told him that he "hits/runs like a girl".

You can't make this stuff up.

Here is the whole story.

I had my prostate removed this way 3 years go. These machines are pretty amazing. And yes, you do need an experienced doctor at the controls.

Didn't one of them have a poster that proved he indeed did have balls?

My faith in Congress remains strong.
So does my blood pressure.

We have a whole prostate history in my family involving a life insurance policy. People did not speak for years.

Get your psa checked with regularity.

Came here to say this.

It's super ironic b/c one thing we do in fact know with some certainty is that Hunter Biden has balls!

Does testicles really mean what balls means?

We are gonna see soon if Mike Johnson has balls. The former Freedom Caucus member's roll has been upended by the Freedom Caucus. Does the Supreme Court operate when the government is shut down?

The entire judicial system stays funded and functional.

Does testicles really mean what balls means?
Thanks for asking...

What "balls" means is "courage/nerve" and the underlying implication/meaning, is that men, as opposed to women, are the ones who have courage. It's a common saying, everyone knows what it means... just like "hit like a girl"... the fact that its common doesn't stop it from being sexist.

But you already knew that... I'm just poking you... not with my balls... or the other thing... well maybe... now that I think about it :mischief: ... it is well after wine o'clock ;)

I know girls with bigger balls than me. It's not necessarily a compliment, but it might be.
