GodNES - The Beast with a Thousand Backs

Please don't fight...

Let it be known: Mazus-Klein, Lord of All Things Dry, has finished his pondering on whether or not ice is dry. He has declared that, although its origins are of a most dreadfully liquid nature, ice and similar solidified liquids are simply the result of the quasi-conscious turtleverse attempting to attain a higher state of understanding and holiness by chasing the perfectly dry state. He has also declared that any inquiry into the logic of this decision is best left unasked, for He is the Alpha and the Omega of the Philosophy of the Arid.

@Daftpanzer - Yes, I am still accepting submissions, that was why I prompted not-players through WWW when I thought about pushing the update forward. :)

@All, a lot of players seem to agree that the update could be up at Monday. So it is commencing Monday. The new deadline for Primordial applications is tomorrow at 4 pm, gmt +1.

OOC: I believe that a primordial is just one of the initial five players accepted, but I am not entirely sure

Primanus welcomes Evyera and Sejesse, and hopes that they will help in bringing life to Earth, as most of the other gods are doing.

OOC: BTW, why am I the only one of those that created life that actually took care of working from the beginning? Not to mention the only one that wrote a story to carry out that order.

Alright, I made myself a little spreadsheet (Spreadsheet of the Dead anyone?), and I'm classifying a few of our deities.

Regarding the Origins of the Gods

As it stands, several deities were physically formed out of parts of Afaja.

Curator (Memory) was born from the Dying Breath of Afaja.
Solonos (The Sun) emerged from the Right Eye of Afaja.
Borog (Darkness and Fear) coalesced from the Shadow of Afaja.
Merphous (Passion) formed from the Blood of Afaja.
Thwapp (Annoyance) was an odd and tiny bit of Afaja, mixed with the chaos of the first light. Probably a bit of dead skin.
Mazus-Klein (Dryness) originated from some dust on the shell of Afaja.
Juntin (Forests) grew from the intestines of Afaja.
Sythus (War) was born from the black heart of Afaja, and then cleansed by her 'brother' Solonos.

These eight are the Scions of Afaja. Borog considers them to be his siblings.

Several other gods were formed around the moment that Afaja died, but are not physically composed from pieces of his flesh. Amongst these gods are:

Primanus (Life)
Kylmyys (Cold)
Gnontia (Wisdom) was formed from the release of awareness upon Afaja's death.
Malek Bal (Dominion) was formed in the vacuum of power following Afaja's death.
Magrastuur (Trickery) emerged from the ether after Afaja's death.

Some other gods don't neatly fit in. Lafindreeth (Chaos) was formed from Primordial Muck, which indirectly came from Afaja's body.

Then we have Adur Oheder and Rintrah. Both of these figures seem to be younger gods, fire gods. They are the spawn of the sun, and thus could be thought of as the children of Solanos.

Finally, we have a bunch of gods whose origins are not yet clear.

Ceradu (Time)
Zaephta (Death)
Greyti (Seas)
Artharax (Order)
Tsamnir (Opposites)
Madris (Home)
Nargot (Sky)
Ballestoniormelatimusty (Alcohol and Parties)
Jarquin (Luck and Fate)
Higen (Disease and Healing)
Sejesse (Charisma and Mischief)
Evyera (Moon)

Their origins have not yet been made clear.

Anyway, all of this shall become clearer in time. An important point we need to figure out is whether the Sun was actually part of Afaja's body, or if the sun was something alien that invaded the world and slew Afaja.

Other things to discuss:

Did concepts like time, chaos and order exist back when Afaja was all that was?

Do our deities fit into 'families'? The Scions of Afaja, each one born from the flesh of the demon turtle, present one, but it's possible that the deities form straight from the ether fit into another similar group.

What seem to be the most fundamental of these things? I would posit that light, darkness, time, life and death are would be the primordials (that would make Solonos, Borog, Ceradu, Primanus and Zaephta), although obviously this is up to lord_joakim and he might have something different planned.

OOC: Description: (Of course, as players per first turn erupt from primordial ooze, not much backstory is possible, but you can still put in details of your personality, looks, gender if any, relations to other gods etc.) *Cough, cough*

Artharax came from the Primordial Chaos itself, imposing Order upon it by his very will.

He's not from any given body part itself, because they are already ordered in some form. The whole schtick is that he orders things with only the strength of his will, so he's from the Primordial Chaotic Ooze rather than a specific body part itself. We can leave that as a deliberately unspecified part, or just Afaja's generic broken down flesh.

ED: I just realised that the God of Chaos comes from the exact same thing, so they're from the same place if the Primordial muck/chaos/ooze is his broken down flesh. Which it is. It works thematically pretty well.

OOC: BTW, why am I the only one of those that created life that actually took care of working from the beginning?

You didn't, actually. You need electromagnetism, strong nuclear and weak nuclear force for anything other than quark soup. Alternatively magic, but that doesn't exist yet either.

Booooooo. :3

Sejesse would also have formed out of a part of the beast's shattered mind.

Since we're gods, I honestly don't think that we have to obey silly stuff like that :D

Well, I originally planned Nargot coming from the remains of Afaja's life force. However, I realized Curator already has that one down with the dying breath. I guess I'll propose it now, but I don't really care either way.

I really like the spreadsheets Iggy, especially the idea of the Scions of Afaja being a family of sorts as it invokes the feeling of family conflict that is common in Greek mythology.

As for the sun bit I don't see how both couldn't be true. As Angst said we are gods so we can have some inconsistencies. Solonos will be saying that he created the First Sun and Sythus (from what I understand) believes him but people are free to disagree with them.

Personally I like the idea of the source of the world's light coming from the eye of the darkest creature that ever existed. It allows for more potential for cosmic horrors to happen which seems to be the way that this NES is headed.

Deity name: Arastor
Embodiment: Storm.
Player: Golden1Knight
Description: If there is one word that can describe this god, that word is pride. Arastor is a lover of all that has pride, arrogance and selfishness. And as such, aims to treat others as inferior deities, and does not give much importance to small details of the world, preferring the great things. Often the arrogance and his fury muddy his thoughts, leading to the acts that he himself would judge irrational. He prefers a haughty appearance, always trying to impose his majesty. He wears a white toga that displays lights resembling rays. The shape of Arastor is humanoid, but his face is in shadow, except when he is in rage, becoming so bright as to blind those unwary. His eyes are like two wells. Its color is golden, and are indecipherable.
First turn realm: "The world hardly even deserves that name. Look all around. Nothing can challenge my superiority. However this is not enough. I will build a mountain, and this will be my throne, where all will have to look up high to face my greatness. From there I will light the world with rays, I will break its silence with thunder and scrape its surface with rain." In short, I will erect a large mountain that will serve as a throne for Arastor.
