Gr7 - AWM vs 30 civs on a giant map

1675AD
Babylon now has Nationalism. They are going to become a pain.

Salt Mines and Incense Hills are formed.

No cities are hit this round as all "spare" armies are healing.
(IT) There is a ton of blood by Arab Beachhead. It was all Arabian. :D

Well this just downright sucks. Dessert Connector was captured by Babylon.
Even behind walls, muskets aren't that great vs. cavalry.
Now the Netherlands lands next to Arab Beachhead.

Sounds like the Babylonians should become our focus.

Well the trouble with Babylon is they are the farthest away from us.

1680AD
I have recovered Desert Connector. It isn't as annoying now that I get $132 for my troubles.

Heidelburg is razed along with Sistine Chapel. We have almost zero churches, so an isolated high-flip risk city wasn't worth it IMHO.

Borg is formed. Expansion is slowing down due to the horrid road-net in this area of the map. We have 12 settlers, so that isn't the problem.

(IT) I have another decent stack of Indian troops land by Arab Beachhead.

OK I'll concede that point. :D Gotta love the rent they pay when they occupy a city for a turn though.

I am back working on completing my 10 turns.

At this point this is how I see the odds of possible loss:
Domination or conquest = 0%
20K culture = 1%. With Cuzco the best at 4,724 culture points, I don't think we need to worry too much.
100K culture = 1%. As long as we sneak in more culture, and are careful with the order that we kill civs this shouldn't happen.
Space = 5%. I am mostly worried on the shear amount of cities to deal with. We are the tech leaders, and we should be able to build the Internet to avoid a sudden science rush by another civ.
UN = 0%. As long as we hold the tech lead, this is a non-issue.

We should have 5 luxuries exclusively soon, and that will really hurt all of the AIs.

This is the newest expansion along the interior lake.

LAK-1004.jpg

1685AD
Antium is razed for $0 and 3 workers.
Neapolis is razed for $0 and 2 workers.

Sahara Desert, Mountain View, Backfill, Vulcan, and South Sahara are formed. We have hit the 512 city limit again.
We are pasted the point of 150 cities. This is despite some of the ST cities are gone already.

Now that we have the 5th luxury, it will really pay to disband the ST cites to work all 12 tiles in the core. The other big plus is I can free up a lot of obsolete spearman for resistance suppression in Arabia.
I get the joy of fixing all the towns for the 5th luxury. It will cost a few scientists now, but we will hit the target size 12 faster.

This is the heaviest turn for units this round. I ran out of bombardment units for the first time. I am dipping into the MW reserves just to kill of Babylonian cavalry. We now have some MW to go leader fishing with. :D

There is no real surprise hear.

1690AD
Rome is officially burning. We gained another 4 workers for our trouble.

Kronos is formed.

1695AD
Civ crashed near the end of this turn, and I have to replay a big part of it.
Will I get my 2 leaders back?

Hispalis is razed for $0 and 5 workers. This time both armies got beat badly against spearman.
Cumae is razed for $0 and 2 workers.
Viroconium is razed for $1 and 2 workers.
Nuremburg is razed for $0 and 3 workers.

I have made great progress in improving our lands, but we can always use more workers. Tile development will suffer once we start getting hit by pollution.

Feriginar, Trill and Bajor are formed.

Baghdad is captured. The Arab offensive forces ran out a lot quicker then I expected. I thought ThERat would start the offensive.

I have to kill off 4 units that landed by New Mauch Chunk.

The RnG really sucks this time. I lost an elite MW on the offense against a longbow, along with an elite cavalry vs. a 1 HP knight. I only got a single leader this time.
I had 2 before the crash that formed 3 unit armies for overseas operations.

I think we need to start thinking about how we're going to invade the other continent. Probably don't want to start with a city. Perhaps some pillaging first.

I agree that we will want to start pillaging soon.

Another possibility is 10+ infantry on a hill with 1 cannon. This should survive quite a bit of abuse. It will be a good way to start burning up there offensive units.

I think we could send armies over and start to pillage and raze cities (remember with city limit, the AI won't be able to re-settle). Only with enough army support would I dare to start forming cities.

Are we heading for ToE after RP and net Hoover, then go for flight (most useful to send over huge amounts of units)?

i think you are right Rat. Go for ToE with the Hoover sling, then head for flight.

Productivity is the key. There is no question we want to get Hoover. Flight is nice.
At some point I want espionage. We really need to track the status of the various AIs better.

I suppose spies before planes would be a wise move. Intel is the single most valuable commodity we can have.

1700AD

New Leipzig is razed for $0 and 2 workers.

Cardasia, Betazed, Romulus, and Breen are formed.

LAK-1007.jpg

This army is loaded up to head to Arabia.

LAK-1008.jpg

This army is sitting by Salamanca with 3 cavalry. This can be the start of the pillaging armies for the main continent.

==========================

Summary:
My intent is to get rid of the short-term cities (ST1 to ST8). They have been on pure settler duty during my round. I have already gotten rid of some of them.

I can't wait for infantry. The biggest thing slowing me down was the lack of ability to protect workers building rails to the new cities. 2 infantry in a barricade will free up all of the armies manning the forts. 2 infantry will be sufficient to protect a worker stack, and we can concentrate the armies on city razing.

I found several cities with a few shields, and high food. I renamed them to settler source. I think that is all they should do for the rest of the game. Hopefully this will satisfy Greebley's insatiable need for them.

I got a few factories built, and more are in progress. The coastal cities should build additional naval groups. I don't feel ready to hit the monster continent with India. However, I feel we can work toward some side trips such as the Aztec island, Celtic island, or some of the 2 or 3 city islands. We can raze all of those, and then build more cities on our continent. At some point we will want a frigate SoD to start destroying AI shipping. Salamanca is already on every other turn frigate duty.
I am trying to squeeze in banks, stock exchanges (coming soon) and universities after the factories.

Once we get RP we will want to temporarily fire our scientist in favor of civil engineers to complete the aqueducts. Size 12 it much better for unit support and that is the best size for a ton of scientists. Temples aren't worth sacrifices scientists for.

I realize we can build armies in Mauch Chunk. However, we are generating plenty of leaders. We are having problems with enough cavalry to fill the armies.

The below is the current city count. Rome has been nicely trashed.

LAK-1009.jpg

The steamroller is picking up speed.
Our % territory and % population is growing nicely.
It is amazing that we own more then 25% of the world's population.

LAK-1011.jpg

The final picture is the expansion.
Every thing inside the red line is new.
The short-term goal is Berlin with Sun Tzu.
That will be a nice boast to the economy.
