Guess the map 16: No need for that latitude!

A TV show that features journeys that all originate in one of Nigeria, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Venezuela and all end in one of England, Wales, and France?

Not quite. It involves travel. The travel isn't part of the in-story narrative.

The places traveled to are in England, Wales, and France. It never occurred to me to include France on the map because it's standing in for a UK location. People physically go to France, but it's not France in the show.

The countries on the map are the places traveled from.

It's a specific one.

Should I just reveal what I was trying to go for here? I realize this isn't working out as I'd hoped.

Well, as I advocated for keeping on I shall say I have no idea.

It's one I've mentioned fairly often in connection with my writing. It's not a popular show anymore.

I don't have a clue what the current popular shows are, as I watch so little TV.

(how did you guess this is about a TV show? I've been wondering that)

"As the world turns" or one of its ilk?

None of that "ilk". I've never seen that one. Seriously, Birdjaguar. What would the UK, Ireland, Venezuela, and Nigeria have to do with any American soap opera?

Hint: I've been writing fanfiction about it for nearly 2 years. Arakhor said I'd hate the ending, and he was right.

I'm just going to put everyone out of their misery (spoilered in cased someone still wants to guess one last time).

Spoiler :
The map shows the birthplace of the main cast and recurring characters of BBC Merlin. I thought it was rather neat that while most of them come from various places in the UK, one is from Ireland, another is from Venezuela, and it was a surprise to find that another is from Nigeria.

If nobody guesses it before reading the spoiler, I'm giving the win to @warpus since he came the closest.

At first I thought it might have something to do with expats/immigrants sending money back home, since both Nigeria and Venezuela have large populations who do that, so that was common between them.. and I thought.. hey, maybe in some way the UK & Ireland figure into that too somehow. Then you mentioned an award and fiction, so I thought.. Authors.. wait.. maybe a TV show or movie. Thoughts of some sort of a travel show popped in my head, as well as actors who hail from those countries being all on some TV show.. The way you worded something in one of your posts made me think that my thoughts beyond "TV show or movie" were incorrect though, so I couldn't nail it down further. I did not read the spoiler tag yet

Expats sending money home never even occurred to me. And if it did, I'd be more inclined to think about expats from the Philippines, since it's gotten to the point where every single person who comes here for my home care appointments is from the Philippines. There used to be a more diverse group of workers (a couple from Africa, a few Canadians, one from Russia), but they've all quit over the years.

One thing that participating in this thread has taught me is that I need to work on anticipating questions and figuring out how the answers help or hinder narrowing things down. Like France, for instance. A lot of filming was done in France, but the location was a stand-in for somewhere in Wales (similar to how often Calgary is a stand-in for the American west or Vancouver or Toronto are stand-ins for American cities; and no, Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto aren't part of this!).

Awards figure into this because one of the actors won a BAFTA (Best Actor, I think).

I remember talking to you about it, but not what I said. It's following the Arthurian cycle, so it was never going to have a happy ending, but I am curious to know what you didn't like about the ending specifically.

The countries marked in red and orange have something that the others don't.

Please excuse my inexact marking of the countries in question. I have missed some minor islands here and there.

Reply in PM, so as to not derail the thread.

And the red and orange are different in the way they have the something?

I may as well add, political, economic, cultural, demographic?
