Hippy

I see it as a certain style....a subgroup. Like I would say I belong to the metal/rock/goth culture, some people belong to the hippy culture, as do some belong to the rave culture etc. Of course there are overlaps but generally it works like that.

Pointless protest for the sake of protest. And pot.

Pointless rebellion for the sake of rebelling. And pot.
That could apply to any number of sub cultures.

I mean me and my friends smoke pot and we are mostly metallers/goths....quite different from hippys in dress, music and general lifestyle.

As for being rebellious for the sake of it....thast applicable to every group in one way or another.

I mean I know alot of punks who smoke pot and are quite rebellious...and punk and hippy are very different in alot of respects.

Idealistic tree hugging dirt balls.

My english teacher. Damn hippie.

Non-conformists, just like all other hippies.

*Da-Dum-Ch*

Besides the historical meaning I find it very useful term to use very broadly meaning leftists, anarchists and unpolitical people, who are into 'good things'. It's pretty hard to define exactly. Most of my friends are hippies (in the latter sense), and me too.

Why are you interested, Bozo?

Th first really prominanat temporary sub-group American of society, I liked a lot of there ideas, such as free love(not the sex part though) but overall it is a failed ideology, they had no real leader who was sobered enough to give them any real standing with the world.

I don't think it is one solid ideology.

Atheists and feminists don't have real "leaders" either.

But at least therye sobered, which allows the rest of the world to take them a lot more seriously more easily, its reall hard for a hi manwith practically no life to be taken seriously at all.
