How is your EU3 Game going?

Just got Europa Universals III chronicles. So, how much time can I expect a typical game to take? I recall that my few games with EUII were very long, not so sure that it is a good idea to start one without a few days off available... :p

Oh, and... the game tells me that there are no updates? A game with no patches, no need for patches, presumably? It can still happen these says?

20-30 hours is probably a rough guide for all 400 years, depending on how often you pause, on what speed you play and how frequently you're at war!

There are some Beta patches on the Paradox site for player play-testing, but no official Alpha has been released, yet. They're moving pretty quick, though, so I would expect one within a few months.

You'd be fooling yourself. Paradox releases beta versions of the game and patches as they go; it's basically their defining trademark as a company. And in order to try to keep the game from being pirated, the sections of their forums with the beta versions of patches can't be visited without having an account that has registered the game in question. Some games never got official versions of certain patches; the patches remained in beta and the rest of the problems were "fixed" with an expansion.

Thanks. I guess that's acceptable, though annoying. I'll check their forums.

It's all right, but it does make modding - the main draw of most Paradox games - a pain in the tuchas before the game is fully patched (which might be never; EU3 has been getting expansions and patches for ages now).

That's ridiculous, 20-30 hours is about 100 years for me, and I always play at the fastest speed. :p

I am rather glad there are no alpha releases of patches. :)

And the fastest speed of the game depends on the computer it is running on afaik.

Well, 20 hours is a bit generous, but 30 is probably more than enough to win a game. :)

Wooo!!

I just finished an epic war as Minamoto against Fujiwara and Tachibana, taking about an estimated 50 years. :D

...Although much of the fighting was actually due to rebels cropping up everywhere all the time. :p

well, i think in Miscmods, one of these days, i could do that, i was like 20x faster in my pc
it was epic playing in such a big speed.

Tried starting a game as Wallachia today. Managed to conquer Transylvania, but Hungary invaded me, so I gave up on that.
