How Many Avatar Changes Have You Made?

Time to upgrade to Yperprotopansevastoypertatos :)

Over the past year I have considered changing my avatar to something else, but I am reluctant. If I were to do it, it better be something damn good and deeply meaningful to me.

Definitely more than the amount of techs in SMAC/SMAX.

I took my current avatar at my 300th post and stuck mainly with it. I have briefly experimented with other avatars and roamed the forum naked, but for the most part, have stuck to the original.

Civ2 Trireme - Some weird drawing of a child from Medieval: total war - Civ2 Trireme. Thats all I can remember at least.

I like the Civ2 sprite avatars the most. Especially ships. Thunderfall with his mighty battleship and me the humble trireme. We should have more of those.

The Star Trek forum I belong to has avatar contests going on all the time. I've entered quite a few, won on occasion... and yet I've never had more than the one avatar in all the time I've been there.

Yet here I change my avatar fairly often. My current black cat was one of my contest entries at TrekBBS a few weeks ago.

Too many to remember.

My most famous avatar, however, was this one:

spud-on-a-scooter.gif

The older members here should remember Spud. ;)

I thought that was a skull.

I would say I have had about 7. I used to change my avatar after the April fool's shenanigans, but now i have stopped that. I first started out with Great composers. I wonder how many can remember the ones I've had?

Probably more than 10.

Although I've been using Sinatra for...well over ten years now, before I settled on the Voice I had two or three avatars: I started with the Civ3 Crusaders, switched to either the Starfleet Delta or a Christian ixoye symbol, and eventually found a Sinatra avatar I really liked. I've also been using "Trekkie at Large" from the first moment I could have a custom title. At this point they're just my private traditions...can't change them because it would ruin my record. Honestly, how many people can say they've gone ten years without changing their avatar?

Too many to even count: I cannot even remember all my avatars.

I do remember I had at one point a Satanic icon, Friedrich Nietzsche (twice), William III of Orange (twice), a younger William of Orange, Alan Turing and now my current Zoroaster avatar.

I believe I went from no avatar picture, to the Civ4 Great Prophet Icon, to the one I use now. I don't think I ever used anything else.

I lurked on the FfH2 subforum for several months before joining, and did not really venture out to the rest of civfanatics for a couple years after that. No one else in that subforum was using the great prophet icon at the time, so it seemed a unique enough identifier and better looking that the other default options. After a couple years some n00bs using the same pic started posting in the FfH2 forum, and I kept finding myself wondering how I could have written anything so ignorant before realizing their posts were not mine. Choosing an FfH2 icon as an avatar seemed appropriate, and Govannon's was the best looking one that was not already being used by anyone.

Too many to count. On the bright side, this means people recognize me by my vibrant personality and enchanting charisma rather than a static grouping of pixels*. I wonder if there's a specific avatar people associate me with, though (other than the current one, obviously).

*cue smartass commenting on the static group of pixels above the avatar
