I wanted to know with the Octopus Overlords religion was there ever a plan to make it so that if a player with that religion achieves certain set goals or criteria, they get to have control of an avatar of an elder god of madness, sorta along the lines of being an endgame super unit, along the lines of the Mithral Golem, Goliath, Auric and Taranis ect?

Does things like a frightful/madness aura, where all enemy, non mechanical units within the aura get reduced attack and defense penalties, while the player and allies non mechanical units get all frenzied and gain attack and movement bonuses or something like that.

Also with the War Wheel what plans did you have in mind for it, its stats, role ect?

Also I noticed in my thread you had mentioned you had wanted the Aerogyro if it was finished, if implemented would it be used as a fast attack fighter/interceptor type AA aircraft with limited fuel or something else altogether?

Since the Thopter and the like are more like helicopter gunships in role and stats I think.

For OO: Zero chance of that, honestly, as we want to keep it unspecified as to what they actually are (enough so that the name will be changing.)

For the War Wheel... IIRC, a light cavalry unit or a field artillery unit. Think it was the second one. :p

Aerogyro would be an aircraft; A UU for a more general mechanic.

Have you considered giving hawks air combat capability?
In essence, what I was thinking is that you could give hawks the ability to intercept enemy hawks and those eyeball things. As soon as hawks are out you see, scouting becomes trivial and there are no secrets any more, not even enemy territory. Having the AI spam hawk AA units to kill my hawks would really make my day.

Why not? Something has to give the AI a shot at stopping the scouting spam.

Also, on the subject of upgrading heroes; this is sort of something I think all heroes should do to some extent.

This. I don't think every hero needs an early unlock and a series of upgrades towards the endgame, but they should at least be viable from the point of their discovery until the lategame. I dislike reaching a point in time where a hero is no longer relevant. There are plenty of heroes who provide or synergize with unique mechanics (Donal Lugh, Karrlson, Govannon, any hero with Marksman) and that works just fine as well.

There is also the Mechanos / Scion strategy; just include a whole bunch of heroes that do different stuff at different times.

I would like to see some hero synergy. I play Bannor alot and mostly because of their mechanics. Would be great if some other heroes had a few special things differentiating them from normal units.

I enjoy playing Khazad alot for the building aspect. But Maros in particular is pretty bland. Godly defense....but not much synergy.

Then there are hero's like Teutorix...kind of awkward...by the time I prioritize for him...he's just another unit.

Some religious heroes, I think, don't feel right. Kithra for instance would feel much better as a Satyr or something of that nature...A unique model would be cool for that too. And Saverous is a Zombie...not into zombies so much.

Also, Donal, Chalid, Rantine(epic) Yvaine, Lucien, Gibbon, and a few more all have great models...I know Sezereth isn't around anymore but I can dream for more like this.

Ah, good point on the aura.

esvath made a module for MoM and reworked the Luichurp a bit, too. He developed some very cool aura effects for golems, he did a splendid job. Maybe sth can be useful for you. Glad to see that rife is using aura, too.

Ah, yes, I forgot Maros. I'd imagine he's used to it, though. Teutorix is another like Barnaxus: you acquire him for an Overcouncil vote, not because he really does anything.

I disagree on the religious heroes, though. Kithra is the champion of FoL because Hemah dreamed he was the champion of FoL, and a horse-archer Hero is thematic if boring. Saverous similarly is, yes, a zombie, but that's the OO thing. All the minor religious heroes are basically ordinary units with Hero and one or two useful promotions, but they are all made up for by the major heroes. OO has Hemah, FoL has Yvain.

It is always a sad moment when a unit has reached a high enough level where there are no additional promotions to take. Would it be possible to add a promotion which added a small random benefit much like the mutation mechanic?

I'm vaguely certain that I read in the civ(RiFE)opedia that Hemah once dreamed agents were Calabim unique units....:smug:

@check:That sounds like a good idea to me, though it has the potential to become unbalanced after a certain point.

He didn't, otherwise they would already be Calabim units. Everything he dreams becomes real after all. :p

I wish Hemah would dream about the release of 1.4... :mischief:

You want Hemah to influence the v1.4 release? Are you sure? ;)

Uuugh.

On second thought, take your time.

(I just realized how 1.31 came to be...)
