The Code of Hammurabi: Session four.
So the aim of this session will be to recover the economy and try to get back to somewhat of a tech parity with Bull.
1530 AD
We were researching replaceable parts but due the change of course, I switch the research to liberalism. We could use a better diplo situation, hopefully preventing Bull or Genghis from going to war with us. At the same time we'll switch to economic civics and hopefully close the technological gap between us and Bull a bit.
In the meanwhile I'm reorganizing my sod.
1540 AD: A threat.
Genghis acting like ... Genghis. I agree to his demands.
I noticed Aachen has the Pyramids. This will be target number one once we declare war again. Due the heavy war unhappiness we could really use police state till this war is over.
1555 AD
Completed the National Epic in Babylon, boosting the gpp.
1560 AD
Did a trade with Genghis:
1565 AD
Researched liberalism and switch civics from theocracy & vassalage to Bureaucracy & FR. I picked constitution next and we'll go after democracy afterwards.
1585 AD: Time to finish this.
We dow Charle once again in the hope never to see his filthy moustache ever again.
1590 AD
Charle put a small stack of units next to our sod. Four knights and 2 landsknechts, say goodbye to those units.
I make another deal with Genghis. And I'm starting to fear Genghis is after us by asking for our world map.
1605 AD
Sigh, leave me alone already. I refuse as we got some happiness resource deals with Bull, we can't miss any of those. After we dow'ed Charle I needed to whip unhappiness away once again.
1610 AD
We bombarded the defense of Aachen down and attack. There was some crazily upgraded longbows so we had some losses.
Nonetheless:
Aachen contained the Pyramids, Scotland Yard, 2 settled GG's and a settled priest. This should be a great naval military city with clams, pigs and all those hills.
I switch to police state to fight the WW.
1630 AD
Reduced the defense of Vienna and we take it, once again with a few losses. I'm really disliking his CGIII/Drill/CII Longbows. I'm not sure why he's taking combatII promotions instead of drill though.
1640 AD
Bull is getting more ahead every turn I'm fighting Charle but it would be foolish to stop now. I see cavalry running near our borders now.
1645 AD
HC breaks free from Bull. Thank god for that, someone more hated and weaker then me.
1655 AD
We capture Mainz, one to go.
1665 AD
Researched democracy and picked economics next. We'll switch civics when this war is over.
1670 AD
Bull has coal now in the trade menu, meaning he has steam power already. Yikes, I'm starting to doubt if we'll ever catch up to him.
1680 AD: There can be only one.
Well that was the last of Charle. Two moustaches down, one to go. I'll focus on building universities & banks. I somehow have to close this huge gap between me and Bull.
1685 AD
HC demands to stop trading with Bull. I rather stay a bit longer in the game thank you.
1695 AD: My good friend Sitting Bull.
Bull demands education. Here ya go my good friend. By the way friend, did I ever tell you how awesome those feathers on your head are?
We researched economics and I changed civics to US/Emancipation/Free market. I pick corporation next for the extra trade routes.
1710 AD
Finally put Oxford up in Hamburg. Putting us from 360br/turn to 475br/turn.
1730 AD
Bull demands to close the deals with HC, I agree as I don't have the balls to deny Bull anything at this point. This turn we finished the research on corp and continue with astronomy for observatories. On another note the forbidden palace is built in Prague.
Tech overview, no comment.
1750 AD
A GS arrives, I settle him in Hamburg due the lack of better options.
1760 AD
Researched Astronomy & picked scientific method next to get to communism for state property.
1790 AD: Gasp.
Ok, I'm scared now. One turn till scientific method is done, we'll pick riffling next and prevent a possible wipe out.
1795 AD
I make a trade:
Well since everyone has been in WFYABTA for like ... forever. HC won't be of any importance anymore, with this trade I can take the science slider up a notch to get to riffling faster.
1800 AD: Genghis the annoying.
I gladly agree. I'm not sure if he's preparing to attack me or Bull ... but 10 turns of peace can't hurt.
1804 AD
Researched riffling and continue with communism for state property.
I've been focusing on infrastructure in all the cities so we somewhat have a decent tech rate again. Running 850breakers / turn now without deficit.
1812 AD
- Researched communism.
- We get a Great Prophet in Babylon, I run him to Hamburg to make a shrine.
- I switch civics to state property and free speech.
- I do a trade with Genghis:
1816 AD
Constructed the Temple of Solomon in Hamburg, which gives us a nice gold boost. This combined with our new civics gives us a well running empire now. I'm not trying to sound optimistic though, we are still far behind. ;P
I also switch to 0% science for two turns to upgrade our mace stack to riffles.
We're researching steam power at this point.
