ITNES I - An Epoch of Change

OOC:

they dont need fortification

Then why during the Fourth Transpoenic War the most common order you gave was for your garrisons on assorted tiny islands to fortify? :lol:

We see it too.

As that is how things had been for centuries now in any case, sure, why not?

They remain ominously quiet, but this may have something to do with Svearland's extremelly inconvenient (as far as diplomacy is concerned) government form.

We have been fighting for ages and we want peace. Lets recognize current borders and end this senseless conflict. Also, we purpose a three turn NAP.

OCC: das what is my standings with my neighbors? I understand my people hate the Germans but how about my other neighbors? I want to make sure my diplomacy makes sense.

We shall agree to this pact of non-agression. May any who violate it be cursed.

Indeed it is. Your offer of a Pact of Nonaggression has been signed.

The peace we would propose
Is right under your nose;
The NAP we set at three;
Say the word and make it be.

To our cousins of the north
The peace terms we set forth:
A three turn NAP is what we see,
A response is all we ask of thee.

OOC: You know das, considering that there are actually OTHER nations with larger armies then I have.... What would be the likely result if I tried to turn peaceful? Assasination of the Emperor and etc? :p

There has never been great love between our peoples - indeed, we have fought wars. However, we do not believe it is in either of our interests to fight a conflict. Expansion accross Europe is impossible for you, and we seek no ambition overseas. Therefore, we propose a pact of Non-Aggression.

Well, you have good relations with Nadruvia.

You know das, considering that there are actually OTHER nations with larger armies then I have....

People see what they want to see. ;) And agree about the consequences.

To Amorica (Carthigian name for the Gaul Kingdom)
From the Punic Empire of Carthage

We agree. We pledge to you that we desire no further conquest of European lands. However we notice that there are a large contingent of your populace that lusts after conquest of Didonia and its surrounds. This we cannot accept. You must educate your populace to respect Punic territories and provinces. Until you can do this we can agree to a non-aggression pact but not much more.

A note

While all spirits of Emperors and Empresses past are venerated and worshipped the typically great ones are worshipped more and are considered to have more power. Thus an able and fair Emperor is to have a more honoured place in the pathenon of spirits that look over the Punic people and Empire. This is a motivation for the sovereign to be fair and true.

All Punic citizens particularly venerate Gisco Carthage the Uncrowned saviour and the father to Empress Dido I, the mother of Carthage. He is considered to be the grandfather of the Empire and he who gave his life for his people still watches over them in their times of need. The High Holy day is held on the anniversary of when Imperial priests consider to be his birthday as the exact date has been lost in the sands of time.

The current Emperor is considered to be the holy link between ordinary people and the happy afterlife they all seek. To disobey the Emperor is to invite the very deamons of hell against you. To die for the Emperor is to be granted reprieve for ones sins and sacrafice in the Emepror's name of livestock and even people (usually slaves, the disabled or prisoners of one type of another) are ritualistically sacraficed on specific dates in the Punic calender to ensure a continued long life for the gratious Emperor without whom the Punic Empire woudl not exist
