Spurred by a recent thread here, I am going to be completely cleaning out the XML, offering a blank yet structured slate for all people trying to totally rebuild from the ground up. This is by NO MEANS ready yet, since I just started now, this is just a teaser to all those sick of having to delete everything in the tags. I will now do it for you.:p

I am currently working on:
~In Transition~

Progress:
~In Transition~

Completed Files:
CIV4TechInfos.xml
Compatibility: V. 1.61 Compatible.
Note: This file is the bare minimum since I haven't changed anything else yet. If you add techs here without taking out the tech references in other files, you will get about eight thousand error messages. The techs you use will still be good though.

Next planned project:
CIV4UnitInfos.xml

I will continue working on this in stages and posting my work as I finish, but if anyone wants to help, please offer!

NOTICE!

This project WILL continue, but not until the next patch, due to changes in the XML structure. Please be patient.

335/5,892 lines

What do you mean? Do you plan to delete values of all 83 techs manually?? But we need clean structure for one tech only, then we could use Copy-Paste trick.

As for patch, any news about it? It's almost April and Firaxis plans to release Warlords in July. I'm not sure they care much about the patch.

Am I wrong, Locutus? :)

NeverMind, I actually thought of that a few minutes after posting the lines thing, but I got distracted and didn't change it. Sorry, I will now.

I am still waiting for the patch to come out, but it will be first on my list when that happens... Sorry for any inconvenience...

UPDATE!

The first clean file released is posted for download. I haven't tested, so if there are bugs, please tell me. Also, if I need to explain how to use these files, I will... Just ask.

Not to devalue what you're doing, you obviously feel its important, but for me ive always found the XML files to be more useful with info in them. Because if im thrown a blank slate i dont know what type of values im suppose to use. Some tags need a "0" if you want them to do nothing while others require the word "NONE." Some tags if i hadnt seen an example i wouldnt know exactly what i was suppose to put in their in the first place. I cant see myself ever really using a blank slate when i create a new xml item because it seems to actually make it harder. I simply just copy some simple yet existing item and replace what i need. Then at least i have a framework within which to operate.

I guess im just wondering why you feel this is so important.

Great. That's exactly what I need. :)

It is useful when you're making a total conversion and you need to erase every techs, every units, every civs, and every links between these in a dozen of XML.

@ naf4ever,

If you fill in these files while looking at the already filled in XML's, you can switch back and forth if you have a question...

UPDATE!

The TechInfos file will be taken down for a bit, I didn't save it right. Also, I tried running this with just Mysticism, and I got like a bazillion errors because of other things that reference the Tech files... I forsee some more work until this is done.
