Keyboard Capitalization

When capitalizing letters, which shift key do you use?

I learnt in school years ago that the left shift should be used with the keys on the right and right shift to be used with the keys on the left. But I ended up using the right for right and left for left.

I use both interchangeably. It engenders the greatest speed in my digits.

And while we're on the topic of keyboard typing, does anyone else end up writing "\\\\\\\\" when wanting to backspace instead? I hate those keyboards! I'm used to the big backspace.

And it's even more annoying when you only realize it after typing a further sentence or two, because you were looking at something else.

Btw I use both shifts.

Left side of the keyboard, thumb the shift and type the letter with the closest available finger at that time. Right or left hand.

My quirkiness is typing ; instead of ' in words like don't or can't.

I use both.

about capitalization: I once heard a story about a man who had to write practically everything in capitals for his job on his computer. One day a technician had to repair the computer and started typing. The man asked the technician really amazed how he could write lower-case without pressing shift. :) The man, (who practically always used upper-case letters) had one day (accidentally??) pressed caps lock and pressed shift for lower-case letters. :D

Well, your keyboard doesn't have ä, å or ö, so you won't accidentally write for example Defiantäs instead of Defiant's.

Mostly left shift, but right shift makes in occasionally.

I rarely use the shift keys, I'm just fast with the Cap Lock key.

That's 3 strokes instead of one. Caps Lock on > A > Caps Lock off instead of shift+a. Are you at like 20 wpm?

Backspace should get remapped to the capslock button anyway, if you're one for efficiency.

The whole keyboard should be changed around really. As i'm sure we all know.

I've spent too much time on qwerty to go dvorak :(

And I use Dvorak. But moving backspace is a trivially simple change that improves typing more than any single letter move could.

Take a look at Colemak if you're actually interested in something else, it's about as efficient as Dvorak but easier to switch to from qwerty.

I've honestly never thought about it, and I honestly can't tell... I seem to have used my right shift exclusively whilst typing this, but that might be because I'm thinking about it. I voted Right.

I've voted left, but I"m doubting now. Wait, typing this has made me think I only use left.

Never use the right shift - and I even had a whole class we all had to take as kids in middle school but we didn't learn that. I also rarely use caps lock - hit it accidently a lot when I don't mean to though.

Here's another interesting question (I didn't even think about in until the other day, when I realized I just couldn't do it the other way.)

What finger/thumb do you use for spacebar?
Spoiler :
For me it's only the right thumb - it feels so weird to even try with my left.
