I have a vacation for 2 weeks coming up and I'm thinking of going to Lebanon or Jordan. Which one do you think is better? There have been a lot of terrorist attacks in Lebanon lately so Jordan is the safer option but it doesn't seem like Lebanon is so bad that its an avoid all but essential travel destination. Alternatively, I wonder if it would be possible to do both if flights between them are inexpensive. I might have to fly through Jordan anyway.

Lebanon seems the more interesting. But I don't know a great deal about either.

I hear that Jordan has some truly beautiful archaeological sites. I don't know if you like those or not, but I would be there in a heartbeat.

Jordan has Petra, but afaik that is very isolated anyway. Lebanon has a number of coastal places for tourists.

Never went to either place, though.

Lebanon I think has prettier Mediterranean scenery but given you're from the region you've probably seen enough of that. Plus better safe than sorry concerning security, so my suggestion would be Jordan.

I'd like to see the archaeological sites in Jordan but I'm really interested in Lebanon too. Hard to choose. Israel isn't really an option, I'm sure they don't have direct flights from here and I don't think I'd want to explain to their security what an Iraqi resident is doing there.

They'd might actually be lenient towards visitors from Iraqi Kurdistan, which where you live aren't you.

Do not take my word on it, may be worth to check further out though.

Thanks for the advice. Israel is interesting but don't really plan to visit there now. Actually I'm thinking strongly about Sri Lanka because the flights are pretty cheap and one of my co workers is going there.
