Jersey Joe (on deck)
I don't think we will have much money for steals so maybe try to steal medicine now (preturn before invest science) and if it fails then research it in 4 turns when we won't have funds for a steal. We can likely then try a steal of enlightenment.. I think we should get Cavalry as soon as possible and not wait on Medicine for a number of turns if the first 2 steals fail.
I did not follow why we couldn't steal mercantilism. Only republics have it or something?
I haven't started playing yet. I never realized this about republic:
Other than AA optionals, India only knows Medicine. They're the only ones we can steal tech from right now.
Looks like the best tribes to spy on are Spain, Aztecs, Arabia, and Germany.
Early set teaser:
Early set bad luck:
In the CCM2.50 thread, today it was posted, that there are no additional shields for industrious civs - as it is Korea - in their level 2 cities: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/ccm2-epic-mod.625812/page-39#post-16088969
Can you confirm this observation ?
Size 1 and 2 city:
Mid set teaser:
1883 AD (0)
I switch research to mercantilism. The number one goal is to find out if we have coal. If we do, it might not be connected. Rubber isn’t that many sets away.
There is a ton of forest, hills, jungle, and mountain without roads.
At this point I can’t reduce the luxury slider to 0%. There are 20+ cities that need it. I am going to try and get the core cities enough happy to drop to 0%. I switch multiple cities to happy buildings.
I don’t care if I have to hire a clown in a marginal city. With operation steal in play, I want to be able to gain more cash each turn.
I few cities with low productivity switch to courts.
(IT) Spy was caught trying to plant a spy.
Pyong is hit by a propaganda campaign.
The report about largest nations only shows one enemy in the top 8 - the Aztecs.
1884 AD (1)
I kill an enslaver (probably Scandinavian) by Karlskrona. (1-0)
Operation straight line from Greebley continues.
I kill Indian: 1 spear. (2-0)
I kill Scandinavia: 1 musket. (3-0)
I try my luck stealing from India. I know they at least have medicine. They are nice enough to share it with us.
Spies will have to get in tech leaders to make a lot of progress.
I kill Aztec: 2 buckets. (4-0)
If it stays this quite, I may go on the offensive in a few turns. I still see some slow movers from India. I hope the last of the fast troops are gone.
(IT) I kill a Spanish conquistador, but loss a crossbow. (5-1)
Pyong is again hit with a propaganda campaign.
1885 AD (2)
I kill Spain: 1 conquistador and 1 pike. (7-1)
I gained 1 worker.
I kill India: 1 Arquebusier. I lost 1 Asian rider. (8-2)
I kill Persia: 1 musket. (9-2)
Worker crews begin building roads toward the unknown at Seoul. There aren’t many good city sites left. I still haven’t seen an AI claim this area, so they must be a decent distance away.
The stranger thing is this area is that we still don’t have contact with Turkey. How far did they go to build that colony?
(IT) I lost 4 muskets. (9-6)
1886 AD (3)
I get the luxury slider down to 0%. It gains about $100 a turn.
I kill Spain: 1 Hussar. (10-6)
I kill Persia: 4 grenadiers and 1 musket. I lost 2 Asian riders. (15-8)
I kill India: 3 Arquebusier and 2 crossbows. I lost 1 Asian rider. (23-9)
I gained 1 monk.
I kill Aztec: 2 cannon and 1 grenadier. I lost 2 Asian riders and 1 lawyer. (26-12)
That was a really brutal round of luck vs the cannons.
I get stuck with another enemy in the west as contact is made with Greece.
The Aztecs have a decent stack walking up. Spain has a few on the hills that we can’t reach due to lack of roads. I can’t wait for all those defenders walking up to arrive.
(IT) I lost 1 Asian rider. (26-13)
I really hate fighting Spain with conquistadors.
The next research project is fossil fuels. It is time to locate the coal. It is 4 turns at just 50%.
We get the ability to build coffee plantation.
The Aztec stack retreated.
1887 AD (4)
Hebron switches to coffee plantation. You can’t have enough money.
I kill Spain: 1 pike, 1 bucket, 1 hussar, 3 conquistadors and 1 heavy artillery. I lost 3 Asian riders. (33-16)
I gained 1 monk. Spain has already researched military tradition. The have had it for a while for us to already see that unit.
I lost a privateer. (33-17)
(IT) I kill Spain: 1 MDI. (38-17)
I killed an unknown Enslaver at Bialystok. (39-17)
I killed Germany: 1 cannon. (40-17)
I lost an MDI. (40-18)
The Aztec stack is back at a different spot.

I kill Germany: 1 dragoon. (41-18)
[End of session 1]
I kill Aztec: 5 Tlecuahuitl, 2 grenadiers, 1 crossbow, 1 MDI, and 1 heavy artillery. I lost 1 Hwacha and 2 Asian riders. (51-21)
There is another small stack behind this one.
I kill Persia: 2 grenadiers. (53-21)
I kill Germany: 1 musket. (54-21)
A 1-turn worker crew arrives at Goteborg. Lack of roads in this area is making fighting more difficult. The defensive stacks are still a bit away. A ton of muskets arrive in the next few turns.
(IT) I lost 1 Asian rider. (54-22)
Pyong is again hit by propaganda.
1889 AD (6)
I kill Persia: 2 eastern cavalry. I lost 1 Asian rider. (56-23)
I kill Aztec: 1 pike, 1 heavy artillery, 1 crossbow, and 3 muskets. I lost 3 Asian riders. (62-26)
I see another 10 unit stack on the way. The RnG has sucked versus the Aztecs. I am forced to send a few more AR toward this front.
I kill Indian: 1 Arquebusier and 1 MDI. (64-26)
I kill Spain: 1 pike. (65-26)
I kill Scandinavia: 1 axe. (66-26)
I failed to plant a spy in Germany.
I succeeded in getting one into Spain. The spy got caught, so a few turns before I can try and steal again. I find the location of Spain’s capital, it is NOT close.
I wanted to get all there cash.
I kill Spain: 1 pike.
(IT) I killed Spain: 1 conquistador. (67-26)
Production in Shadow of Eternity was sabotaged.
1890 AD (7)
I have to kill off a landing by Bialystok. I kill Scandinavia: 1 MDI, 1 enslaver, and 1 crossbow. I lost 1 camel and 1 enslaver. (70-29)
That was absurd. I shouldn’t lose enslavers to crossbows.
I kill Germany: 1 heavy artillery. (71-29)
I lost 1 Asian rider trying to kill a Persian unit. (72-29)
I see another stack out of range. I see some Prussian line infantry that needs Napoleonic age. There is still a lot of tech to catch up.
I kill Aztec: 2 crossbows, 1 pike, 2 MDI, 2 muskets and 1 Tlecuahuitl. I lost 1 Asian rider. (77-30)
I see more stacks coming from them. It looks 100% of their focus is now on us.
(IT) I killed a Persian mounted unit. (78-30)
I lost a knight. (78-31)
The next research project is steam power in 4 turns.
1891 AD (8)
I kill Aztec: 1 Tlecuahuitl. (79-30)
I kill Scandinavia: 1 crossbow and 1 bombard. (81-30)
[End of session 2]
I kill Aztec: 1 Tlecuahuitl and 1 crossbow. I lost 1 lawyer to a blasted crossbow. (83-31)
I gained 1 worker.
(IT) I killed a Scandinavian camel. (84-31)
I lost 1 musket. (84-32)
This time Wonsan gets hit by a propaganda campaign.
Scandinavia completes Storm of the North. They start a GA with 6 cities left.
WOW - this is good for a free barracks everywhere until explosives.

The assault of Uppsala begins: I kill 2 muskets. I lost 1 Asian rider. (90-34)
The city gets an instant culture bomb.
I kill some civs enslaver. I only spotted it due to Yogi seeing invisible. (91-34)
I kill Scandinavia: 1 knight. (92-34)
I kill Germany: 1 dragoon. (93-34)
I kill India: 1 Arquebusier. I lost 1 Asian rider. (94-35)
Overdue Asian Rider arrives. Goteborg gets a rushed observatory.
(IT) I kill a ground unit and MDI from Scandinavia. (96-35)
